CNN is now calling tomorrow "The Potomac Primaries"

Russert thought himself out so witty trying to call them it "Chesapeake States" primary

I have seen it referred to as the "DC primaries" as well

It is just too hard to say "the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC primaries"????

:silly::think::crazy:

4. As a Potomac-dweller
I'm happy to hear our region described that way.

I'm astounded that my vote in the primary may actually matter this year!

5. It doesn't really work for that part of Virginia
that is 700 miles away from the Potomac river! But the "dog leg" of the state is often neglected.

For me, I can look out of my cubicle at work and actually see the Potomac river.

19. Nor for Maryland
if you live in Va and aren't north of Fredericksburg being lumped into anything with DC and Maryland is a slap in the face. Trust me that name would not go over well.

Oh and having lived in Maryland they don't want to be thrown in with Virginia either.

7. How about the Mason Dixon?
or MaWaVi? Kind of has a Native American ring to it.

I guess it doesn't matter, because in another four years nobody will give a crap about us again.

9. A couple days ago, some moron on CNN referred to them as the "Delmarva Primaries"
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 01:41 PM by Skinner
And added helpfully "in DC, Maryland and Virginia."

(For those of you who are not from the mid-Atlantic region "DelMarVa" is the name of the peninsula on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake bay. The name "DelMarVa" is a combination of the names of the three states that share the peninsula Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. DC is not on the Delmarva peninsula. And Delaware already had it's primary.)

And around the first turn it's Clinton by a length...

For them, it is gambling.

Whoever wins owes them.

17. My point was that everyone is trying to create a name when none is needed
and if you live in Va and aren't north of Fredericksburg being lumped into anythign with DC and Maryland is a slap in the face. Trust me that name would not go over well.

Oh and having lived in Maryland they don't want to be thrown in with Virginia either.
