9. You're pimping the pimp issues, because when pimps go pimpin', they meet more pimps
Then a "pimpfest" breaks out - you of all people should know this.

4. They needed a ruse to deflect attention from Clinton campaign problems
this is merely one more red herring they drag out to divert attention and play the victim

33. Not just that, but the nature of the issue and the theme of the critique ...
... plays to Hillary's core support. Much is to be gained if it is played correctly. (I have less of a problem with this tactic vs past attacks against Obama, because it is not being conducted against a fellow Democrat.)

37. Yes. The main target was MSNBC, and secondary is all TV media.
Classic attack to ward off bad coverage at a time they knew they were getting their asses kicked. The MSNBC weekend coverage was a joke.

21. I guess that's the difference.
It can only help MSNBC's image to take this seriously.

Nobody expects a thing from Fox.

13. I agree with you there. It's enough to make some people just stay home.
That assertion by Obama that Clinton's people will follow him might not bear out, especially if his so called supporters continue to act like fucking assholes. Some of them might go third party, write in a protest candidate, or just stay home.

7. I keep telling Obama supporters
that Obama will need every Hillary supporter come general election time.

Using inflammatory language about Hillary does NOT help Obama.

Smart Obama supporters will start attacking Repubs, not one of our own.

I've seen plenty of hateful posts emanating from both sides.

8. David Shuster should not lose his entire career over this
As one who once wanted to be a journalist, this is really disturbing to me. One mistake should not cost someone their livelihood, especially when they're as good at it as Shuster has been.

11. I think he's stuck between being a newsman and being what the rest of them are.
Newsmen don't generally use the term pimp, even if properly used in the generic exploitation context.

17. I dunno about that. It's like we hold broadcasters to a higher standard.
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 05:51 PM by SteppingRazor
If Matt Taibbi wrote that the Clintons were "pimping out" Chelsea, or even if that guy in my avatar box were around to do it, I doubt it would've gotten nearly as much criticism.

On edit: And come to think of it, that's the opposite of how it should be, given that the broadcasters are speaking off the cuff, while writers have time to think about their words and edit themselves.

16. I truly believe that Hillary and Bill would eat their own to get the whitehouse back.
He apologized and was suspended. That was enough. It should have ended there. I really don't think that this is going to play well for them.

If the majority of you are that cynical and call that pimping, so be it.

A "tough" woman who can handle the repukes would not be having the vapors over what Shuster said.
