For 2012, what changes would you make to the primary system?

For 2012, what changes would you make to the primary system?
I don't have time to write something huge on this, but I can think of two big changes.

1. No more superdelegates. The decision as to who gets to be the nominee for the Democratic Party rests in the hands of the voters. Period. If we're going to be the Democratic Party, we might as well act like we're democratic.

2. For primaries, I recommend using an instant-runoff system for candidates. Have caucuses run pretty much the same way - that way, people can express choices for "fringe" or non-moneyed candidates like Kucinich or Edwards, but if they get eliminated, they still get a voice in choosing from the ones that are left.

Am I totally off-base on this?

1. I don't think it's going to matter.
President Obama's going to be nominated for four more years regardless. :P

2. Unless the hope and change are unfulfilled. Then the primaries will matter.
