I need to ask a question to African Americans, whites, red, brown
or any color in the song Jesus loves the little children.

Jesse Jackson is supporting Obama?

After Obama said being compared to Jesse was a terrible insult? Could I get an African-American to explain that to me? I don't understand why Rev Jackson is spoken of like Jeffrey Dahmer. Why does Jackson's name infuriate blacks?

I still have no idea what insulted you? It must be the most unspeakable insult ever because it has really pissed off Obama backers and African Americans and the media and Hollywood and Air America and Ed Schultz and CNN and ABC and the rest of them but nobody will say what it is that's gotten everybody in a rage..

I'm not playing dumb, but what is it? I pay more attention than 95% of all Americans and I'm still clueless. Is Jesse Jackson another Willie Horton? And being compared to him is ULTIMATE INSULT (short of the 'N' word)?

If Clinton had said, "MLK got arrested many times - big deal. Rodney King's been arrested a bunch, too." Now THAT I can see as an insult.Comparing a martyr to a crack-head criminal should cause outrage,
but comparing Obama's record in Carolima to Jackson's record in Carolina seems like harmless poli-talk -can you straighten me out?.

If white people have no idea what makes blacks terribly angry, it will probably happen again and again until someone explains it....and please don't answer by saying "Clinton knew what he was saying."

YOU are the offended party. It's up to you to explain why.

1. I'm not African-American, but here's my argument by analogy
Everytime college basketball produced a 6-8 white kid with a jumpshot and game savvy they'll call him the next Larry Bird. Obviously this comparison is based on the player's ethnicity, not their game.

My guess is that it stinks to be put in the same boat as Jesse Jackson, simply because they both have the same skin color. There are loads of politicians out there to compare him to.

6. Not really
how many blacks have been viable candidates for president? How many have actually won primaries/caucuses? For anyone to think Obamas race is a non issue is crazy. Of course he will be compared to Jesse. Just like the next time a spouse of a president decides to run for office he/she will be compared to Hillary.

4. Congressman Kendrick Meek (D) FL. was with Bill Clinton when that "Jesse Jackson won SC twice"
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 07:58 PM by in_cog_ni_to
interview took place and he said in an interview that the media cut off the first part of that interview. The first part of that interview was the journalist asking Bill Clinton about the past "HISTORICAL" SC elections. THAT is when he said "Jesse Jackson won in SC twice." He didn't just say it to be saying it. He was asked a SPECIFIC question. He was SWIFTBOATED by Obama and the media....AGAIN.

Congressman Meek just so happens to be an AA supporting Hillary's campaign and he travels with Bill when he can.

I hope that helps to clear things up for you. The entire thing was taken out of context and was a LIE, so no one has ANY reason to be "pissed off" at the Clintons for playing the "race card" because they didn't.

5. As a black male
I think the entire “racialization” of these primaries is a blatant attempt by the MSM to splinter the Democratic Party. The 2 main "race card" comments made by Bill Clinton did not offend me one bit. Saying it took a president to sign civil rights into law is 100% true. I was shocked to see the media act like he called Obama a N****. I was also shocked the Obama allowed those comments to be viewed as racist for several days before calling off his dogs. But I guess that’s politics. The 2nd comment about Jesse Jackson winning S.C was just plain stupidity by BC. He already knew that the race baiting MSM sharks were on the prowl and yet he went ahead and chunked them a huge slab of meat.

The media is playing up race like no mans business. CNN shows reports on why Asians are not voting for Obama. Why Latinos are not voting for Obama. Meanwhile they act surprised that Obama is getting 90% of the black vote and blaming it on Clinton playing the race card. Let me say this because the media will not say it; there is nothing Hillary can do to make a dent in the black vote for Obama. He is a charismatic, eloquent, appears to be well qualified for the job and is right on the issues (as is Hillary). Plus he is black. Don’t underestimate the desire of blacks not wanting to let this chance pass us by. Anyone who doesn’t see this is either naïve or dishonest.

I am still undecided at this point because nothing really separates Hillary and Obama on the issues. I do not know how will be more effective on the job in getting things done because I think either of them will have to fight republicans tooth and nail for everything. For me it may just come down to wanting to have a non Caucasian person in the WH for the first time. Just being honest.

7. There's talking about Demographics, and then there's the race card
There is a certain amount of talking about race which is justified to break down some of the factions that exist within our political system. There is analysis that should be used when speaking to members of different communities because there are different needs for different people.

That being said, there is a line between that analytical approach and blatant race-baiting. Like pornography, I'm not sure where that line is but I know it when I see it.

9. I admire Jesse Jackson, but I hate that "Jesus loves the little children" song
It specifically targets Aborigines as unlove-worthy. What Christian in his right mind could think that Jesus doesn't love Aborigine children?

PS, 90% of "race issues" are utter crap.

10. Obama didn't say he was terribly offended, therefore your entire premise is flawed (eom)
