2. When is the Convention?
That’s when he’ll pick up his VP.
And that’s my vote.

10. He will choose in May, I think...and here is why.
A lot can happen in the next few months. What if we are attacked again by terrorists? What if the economy improves?

Either of these things could determine the best running mate. Also, it provides the democrats with an opportunity to see what kind of ads the GOP will be putting out against democrats in general, and against Senator Kerry.

If another terror attack (heaven forbid) happens, or if the GOP uses patriotism and national security as their key issues, heavy metal credentials will be needed for the running mate (and the Kerry campaign themselves said they want FP experience in addition to Kerry's on the ticket. Don't underestimate the power of the Band of Brothers).

If the economy improves, obviously you would want someone with budget management/fiscal credentials, i.e. a Governor.

In any case, count on someone with executive experience (military commander or Governor) to counter Kerry's tremendous legislative experience. Leadership will be a key issue, so count on a strong leader and diplomat.

But in order to vet what the GOP will do, I think he will announce only slightly earlier than typical: May

8. I say late June
He'll pick a running mate a month before the convention...they'll get some press coverage for that month then...on to the convention.

11. He'll pick a VP
when it can get the most attention. Should be during the convention but may be a week before. There's my prediction so I may go down in flames.;-)

17. He does need to stretch out the free press time. It won't be during
convention - but sometime before is my guess - either immediately before or within a month, but definately not sooner.

Anytime between now and June would make a big bang and then fade into oblivion waaaay too soon.

gotta think over an 8 month timeframe now. Thins is a long term battle, and I am confident Kerry has it in hand.

9. I voted for May but I'm hoping for April, I think he already knows
anyway, and I think it's Clark. Clark is the only one he has sent campaigning for him and sent in his place.

12. Convention or close to it. 8 months till election - gotta keep coverage
spread out over that time to keep in the news and keep the electorate interested.

It would be a huge mistake to announce a running mate any sooner than June, at any rate. It won't happen before then because it would be stale news long before convention or election if Kerry did that.

I have trust in Kerry - he is doing everything right in this so far. He's playing it smart.

14. Soon I hope
so that all of this crazy speculation can end and we can all make the adjustment to whatever compromises to our principles are involved and move on to supporting the ticket, or not.

15. He should announce close to the convention.
The longer he waits...the less time the "Liars and crooks" have to attack and make derogatory ads. I think Clark will be the nominee and he is already out campaigning...so what will he have to gain by announcing sooner? They can't attack our nominee, no matter who, until they know who it is.

16. Both Lieberman and Gore were selected within a month of the conventions..
my guess is that Kerry's choice shall be announced in early July or toward the end of June..at the soonest!
