I just found out my cousin, David Ashe, is running for Congress!!

This is his first run for any elected office. He's running against a two-term incumbent Rep. Schrock (R-VA), apparently, a real Shrub lover, so it may be a tough road ahead.

The current Democratic mayor, Meyera Obendorf, whose been Mayor of VA Beach for years and years, is planning on endorsing him very soon.

I see the 2000 race was extremely close, with Schrock beating his Democratic opponent only 52-48%. There are a lot of Democrats in Norfolk, certainly. And Democratic Jewish Marines are a rare enough species as it is - they need to be encouraged.

Yes, this is true about Democratic Jewish Marines. He's a good guy...a real teddy bear of a person, too (of course, I'm biased?!).
