Why is Chelsea Clinton campaigning in Hawaii?
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/14/aloha-chelsea-to-campaign-in-hawaii/

Is Hillary Clinton strapped for cash or time? What is it?

I don't understand why Hillary Clinton herself can't campaign in the so called "smaller states". She doesn't seem to comprehend that she can't just win Ohio or Texas. She has to win huge in those two states. If Obama even comes close (assuming he doesn't win), the math points to the obvious eventuality of an Obama nomination.

I think the writing may be on the wall for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

1. It's warmer there than Wisconsin.
You don't actually expect clinton to campaign in insignificant states do you? I'm sure she'll do a fly by, or maybe stop and fuel-up. But remember, these states don't matter.

5. Don't be mean
In all honestly she doesn't have enough money to run ads in Hawaii. After Obama got all those endorsements his financing increased a lot.

the last game of NFL pre-season when teams send out all the players who are about to be cut so the real players don't get hurt

4. 1. There are more delegates to be won in Wisconsin, Ohio and Texas
2. Hawaii is her opponent's home turf, and therefore hard for Hillary to win.

I do not think she is trying to win.. just pick off as many delegates as she can.. Its all about delegates .. IF by going to Hawaii she shows she cares and can pick off an extra delegate or 2 those are ones Obamaa does not get...

11. The question should be why are they bothering to campaign in Hawaii at all.
It is Obama country through and through.

Any state. We'll see if her newest strategy is timely enough. And Hawai'i is a caucus state. I wonder how many feet on the ground they have?

20. I think that's kind of a silly question. Of course Hillary's not going to campaign personally in HI.
Going to Hawaii and campaigning there is a huge commitment, requiring days of travel that could be better-spent campaigning across several states in the continental U.S. While I agree that, from the beginning, one of the great flaws of Hillary's campaign has been a failure to campaign effectively in small states, Hawaii is a poor example of this, simply due to geography. It's a matter of where you decide to put your resources, in terms of booth time and money. It's not that Hillary doesn't have the cash or time, it's that her cash and time are better spent elsewhere. Given that Chelsea's been a reasonably successful surrogate so far, I think sending her to HI is about the best the campaign can do.
