I saw HRC today - I was, frankly, shocked by how gorgeous she is in person.
We waited in the cold for an hour or so at her "Brat Stop" appearance in Kenosha (it was filled to capacity even before we got there) so we just waited to see her arrive along with the rest of the 1,000 or so others.

She was much smaller than I thought she would be but, in person, she is stunning. Just jaw droppingly attractive and this isn't just my opinion but that of everyone standing around us.

Plus she is so friendly and vivacious she just about glows.

After disembarking from her vehicle she came rushing right over to the rope line to greet all of us and she was just so engaging and warm she had the crowd swooning over her.

I know I sound like a gushing teenybopper but I'm a seasoned veteran of candidate watching over many years - on the tube and in person - and she is just incredible - in good looks and utter charm.

I know you won't believe me but I swear on a bible that we only drove up to see her because we were curious and 'wanted to hear her speak.

3. Yeah, she was at a fundraiser here in our little Town.
I went for the free wine and food at this grand house and everybody there thought pretty much the same thing.

She is much prettier than she comes across on teevee.

8. Not only do I think she's a very attractive woman (love her smile), but I am amazed at her stamina.
The physical toll of a campaign this long would have knocked out other people her age a long time ago.
I wonder what kind of vitamins she takes, really.

Even though I'm for Obama now, I give her a tremendous amount of credit for the amount of knowledge she's accrued,
for the endurance and for the dedication she's shown. Pretty amazing, if you ask me. (And even if you don't...):toast:

Seriously though, I find some of the most shallow posts on the board coming from Obama supporters. Yesterday a Clinton supporter posted a very decent thread about the issues why one needs to vote for Obama over McCain. An Obama supporter promptly comes in and chimes something like "And another excellent reason to support Obama over McCain-Obama is COOL McCain is NOT"..

And they wonder why we think all they are interested in is an empty suit :eyes:.

208. Because it has to do with looks and nothing to do with politics.
I personally think it's OK to comment on how good looking or pretty etc. someone is but when the purpose of the comments are done to demean or criticize someone...IMHO that becomes across as kind of sexist. When people comment on Hillary now they aren't just making innocent comments...they are done in a sexist manor to demean her looks...something men don't really have to worry about...so that makes them sexist. Just like when woman lose their jobs because they aren't pretty enough...like movie stars, TV anchors, (Crowley & Mitchel are exceptions) stewardesses etc. Wouldn't you call that sexism? Maybe we should just agree to disagree.

Why this kind of shallow foolishness in the most important election of a generation. Gee, I've heard plenty of women say they think is Obama is "good looking". There. Tit for tat. Now can we talk about the important stuff, like who can win the general election which probably CAN'T be Hillary with her sky-high negatives.

42. it seems to me that the OP poster is really talking about the inner qualities of HRC as they are
reflected in her outward warmth, one-to-one engagement of the people there, and a woman who radiates charm and character and the good feelings of someone who has done and is doing a good job for her fellow citizens. lots of time general elections are won not by the people who can really win them if elections were to be honest elections, lots of time elections are won by those who can deliver lots on rhetoric though they are short on substance and sometimes elections are won by people who steal them ... too bad some people are not perceptive enough to realize when truth and character shine outwards from the inside of a person's soul, or maybe they do, and because they do they have to find a way to slam it. that is what obama does to hillary. and many other follow his lead.

Not ego, literally. I met Marie Osmond and Heather Locklear. They were so tiny up close that I was amazed. But what really stood out was that their heads seemed out of proportion to their bodies. Little tiny bodies with normal sized (I'm 6'4") heads.

16. She has been beautiful at every age! I think that's part of the reason the GOP went after her
How often does one find a combination of beauty and brains? Also, this country is highly sexist. It's far more sexist than Europe. No one likes discussing that, but it's true. There's a pretense that this country is not sexist, and I hate that because that pretense is meant to shut down all discussion about it. There was a really good article in last Sunday's either NY Times or Miami Herald (I read both and didn't pay attention to which one had the article), which talked about the sexism. In the article it explained that *generally* women tend to be great leaders but that they're judged more harshly and their great acts of leadership discounted. Also, the article pointed out that beauty in women who are leaders works against them. Men are more likely to discriminate or judge harshly a woman leader who is beautiful. If I find the article, I'll post it in DU somewhere.

17. I've seen her in person a few times
I won't say she's "drop dead gorgeous," but she's very attractive. And I neither know nor care if she's had a facelift. She doesn't use botox, because that freezes areas of the face, and hers is far from frozen...very expressive.

98. Not by me. Actually, by the time I'm 60, I hope I look even half that good.
I think she's held up really well.

Somebody here awhile ago posted a photo of her that was obviously taken back when she was in college or another younger year. It was - well - the only word that really fits was "ravishing." What an alluring young woman! If that's how she looked around the Yale campus, no wonder Bill forgot his own name when she first spoke to him.

I think Michelle and Barack Obama are also quite attractive.

What I like seeing in Michelle and in Hillary is the beauty of women who are not 20-somethings, and who are not empty socialites who only go shopping and lunching all day. These are real-world women driving on roads that aren't always smooth and well-paved. They're clearly overworked and living in fishbowls. And they're holding up damned well! Elegant, glamorous in a low-key way, nicely-dressed, tastefully accessorized, not overdone, really classy-looking. Professional women of achievement - and look how well they represent us. I've been taking more notice of the way Clinton dresses. I like her colors, the cut of her suits, the necklace and earring choices, etc. Yeah, sounds like frippery, doesn't it? But she's out there in the highest-profile activity imaginable and setting trends and establishing templates for other women - how you can be stylish and still all-business, and how you can still be fashionable without having your outfit wear you. Same with the hair and the makeup. Perhaps she's been coached. Perhaps both of them have sought advice from a stylist for their public images. I wouldn't be surprised, and I wouldn't mind, either. Hell, I'D want some advice from some pro's, too, if I were going to stick my neck out that far.

I remember back when a bunch of us were starting to enter the workforce in the '70's and the standard dress-for-success advice was to "feminize" the men's suit ever so slightly. You didn't dare step outside the basic "credibility uniform." I read one accounting of an executive woman who startled her fellow board members by breaking the rules - she wore a bright pink satin suit with a frilly blouse - GASP!!! to a - GASP!!! business meeting!!! OUTTA UNIFORM!!! OMG!!!! But the point was that she still conveyed an air of total professionalism and credibility. This anecdote was offered as almost a cautionary tale about not pushing it too far and being too girly-looking. But look at the styles of both these women. I'm very pleased with what I see. BOTH Hillary and Michelle are models for the rest of us women as we age, on how to look, how to dress, how to present ourselves in public. I am VERY happy with what I see.

I recently saw an article in one of the grocery store magazines about Hillary - "my worst outfits." It was actually pretty funny. She lambasted her peasant-style wedding dress as the inspiration for Seinfeld's "puffy shirt." She gave her first inaugural outfit - an inexplicable red and blue checked suit - a thumbs-down. A photo of her in a mid-calf shirt-dress included a caption explaining that this was why we now see her in pantsuits all the time.

Granted, this is pretty trivial discussion here. How they look. What they're wearing. Their hair. Their makeup. Their choices. Do they or don't they botox? I really don't care. Both Hillary and Michelle have to appear in public all the time. They have to look good. They're representing SO MUCH MORE than just themselves. In one respect, they're each representing ALL American women at this stage of our life as a nation and a culture. They are us. I'm happy when I see them looking great. They're both seriously attractive women, and they're aging (especially in Hillary's case) with class, style, elegance, and grace. And yes, beauty.

After having had eight years of looking at someone (*) who is uglier than sin, both inside and out, we are entitled to a president who not only looks good but works for our ideals.

And let's not even get into four years of putting up with bush sr. RR wasn't good looking, either.

It's time.

Both Clinton and Obama are attractive. Edwards had looks, charisma, and the ability, too.

You want links for me to "prove" my theory, but you think a photo will "prove" yours. FYI- photos are photoshopped every damn day in this country.

Let me put it to you this way, by putting your blind faith in Obama and ignoring all the questionable things he's done and the questionable things he is saying you are behaving EXACTLY like a freeper. Someone who won't allow one negative thing to be said about their hero, even when it's staring them in the face.

I told you to educate yourself for that very reason. Because you won't even acknowledge some serious points about Obama.

You want to stick your head in the sand about 911, Obama and the corruption in Congress.

Instead, god damn it, you MUST tell the WORLD about Hillary's supposed collagen injections!!!

Who gives a flying fuck about it either way?! I could give a damn.

You know why?

Because

A MILLION PEOPLE HAVE DIED AT THE HAND OF A CORRUPT AND COMPLICIT CONGRESS! That's why!

That should matter to you a helluva lot more than some god damn beauty treatments!

That's what I'm laughing at. Your blatant and willful ignorance.

If it wasn't so funny, it would be terribly sad and pathetic.

Actually, on second thought, it IS terribly sad and pathetic.

120. Actually, that's not accurate.
The staff in the dermatology office I used to work in poured over pictures of Kerry during the whole "Drudge fueled Botox rumor" period, and we noted that the character lines that any man of a certain age would have: crinkles around the eyes, forehead creases, and smile lines, were still very much intact.

We laughed at the notion that he was using Botox, because if he were, it wasn't working.

The change you saw in Kerry's face during the 2003/2004 campaign was the "plumping" effect of gaining 25-30 pounds after recovering from prostate cancer. He has just as many lines as he should have for a man in his 60's, but after he recovered from surgery and cancer treatments, he gained some weight, his face filled out, the pallor and gauntness that he had when he was sick disappeared, and yes, he looked different, but his character lines were still very much apparent.

Again, even if people are using these products, who cares? There is no shame or harm in wanting to look good, and using the plethora of available products to do so is a pretty common occurrence nowadays. The "does she or doesn't she?" days are behind us. Cosmetic dermatology is thriving and here to stay.

Let's not toss "Botox use" around like it's an insult. It's commonly used, widely accepted, and certainly no sin.

125. I never said he used botox. That's a muscle paralyzer. Collagen is not botox.
And he definitely had collagen injected on his upper cheek area. Nothing around his eyes changed. Nothing in his forehead changed. But his plumping effect was immediate. It was not natural weight gain.

224. Collagen is not used in that manner.
Like I said, it comes in very small, pre-filled, 1cc syringes and is used in mucous membranes. You would need a vat of it to fill a whole cheek, and it would be all lumpy to boot.

His fuller cheeks were due to wight gain. Not half a cup of collagen.

156. How do you feel about tattoos? Piercings?
I think people should be who they want to be. dress how they want to dress and do what makes them feel good about themselves. We're not all perfectly gorgeous like you. And we each have our own style. It's all good, no need to sit in judgement about someone's make up.

So, she's got THAT much going for her.

Although, I think Jenmito needs to put her money where her considerable pie-hole is and post a picture. C'mon. Put up or shut up.

But when it comes time to hold the mirror up to yourself...you got nothing.

And IF you are so breathtakingly gorgeous...why in the hell are you sitting at home on a Saturday night railing away on DU over Hillary Clinton's wrinkles?

Shouldn't you be out on a date or something?

119. Having spent quite a while working in cosmetic dermatology...
I can tell you from professional experience that it is absolutely not collagen - especially for the use you are describing. Cosmetic collagen comes in small, prefilled syringes - a cc or mL at a time, and is used to plump mucous membranes or sometimes nasolabial folds, (the area next to the mouth) though the preferred filler for that is Restylane, as collagen can be too lumpy to be used in non-mucosal skin. Basically, collagen is most commonly used just to plump the lips.

You can not fill a whole cheek with collagen - the product is not even used for that. It is used for lip plumping, and will have the cosmetic effect of also smoothing lines around the mouth, but cannot, and is not used to plump a whole cheek or lift a jowl.

She may have had laser treatments to smooth her skin, or perhaps Botox to smooth out some frown lines, but she did not use collagen to fill out her whole face.

Even so, we are way past the "hush-hush" days where Botox, lasers, etc. are some big secret sin. They are widely used, extremely common, and no different than any other cosmetic procedure like dying one's gray hair, or getting a facial. There is no harm in wanting one's skin to look nice, and these procedures are nothing to be ashamed of. There is no harm in wanting to look good, and a person is committing no crime in taking advantage of all the wonderful products that are on the market now.

The question should not be "Did she use lasers/Botox/collagen/Restylane/hair dye", but instead "Who gives a damn? She has every right."

Why can't you Obama followers have some sense of decency. You can post whatever you have, just shows your hatred all the more. I expect this shit from the Rush Limbaugh's of the world (and you know what-you fit right in that category). Maybe we should post some pics of Obama's wife, and from what I saw, she isn't at all attractive, but needless to say, we wouldn't go there. You know why-we don't center our campaign on words of hope, and then project nothing but hatred. Hypocrite.

People that "couldn't stand Hillary" were quite surprised, when they met her, by her demeanor and attractive appearance. They found her warm, charming, and surprise, surprise: genuine.

They didn't find her at all haughty, indifferent, or calculating.

The MCM has done it's job well with the electorate. After all, negative spin is almost all we've heard for fifteen years. Hence, the surprise.

It doesn't matter whether or not you were defending previous of your comments or not because all of your collagen comments were unique and just as caustic as the first one.

178. One comment. I'm not going to let anyone get the last word. I WILL defend what I said.

203. I guess it was 11 counting the first one: posts # 7, 30, 57, 58, 62, 85, 89, 125, 127, 170, & 174
That makes 11 total. Edit/Find is just too easy.

202. Why are you people so defensive over the thought that she did botox?
If it helped her win, aren't you happy? Geez.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article3330745.ece

Mrs Clinton's flawless appearance at the New Hampshire debates kicked off a flurry of Botox and plastic surgery rumours. Her campaign has denied the surgery claims but remained silent on the Botox issue.

Quite a few articles on google...

164. I posted the same thing once
about her being so much more petite in person than how she appears on TV. She is simply devine up close and so personable it's incredible. My wife and I met her a few years ago when she gave a speech in Northern NY in front of a packed auditorium. Hillary stayed afterward to meet every single person who wanted to walk up and meet her on stage. She is remarkable, to say the least.

Dam she's pretty.

169. The OP goes hand in hand with that YouTube ad her campaign made
This one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=IA8Wy51Ionk

Where the "teen band members" are gushing over her dropping out of the band.

It shows the fundamental problem with both her and Bill's approach to governance; they're focused on appearance at the expense of substance.

Both the YouTube ad and the OP use the same approach of trying to sell her as some sort of "idol".

The trouble is, they are Milli Vanilli to Obama's Led Zeppellin.

172. Yea, I saw a H.C. supporter say...
that Pelosi's achievements had been given more press attention because Pelosi is more physically attractive than H.C. I thought that was a very odd suggestion, as I can't imagine H.C. being considered less attractive than Pelosi.
