Penn's latest comment, let's discuss how much of an idiot this man is
Latest From Mark Penn
02.16.08 -- 5:47PM
By Josh Marshall

Mark Penn: "Winning Democratic primaries is not a qualification or a sign of who can win the general election. If it were, every nominee would win because every nominee wins Democratic primaries.”

1. I saw that earlier; what does that even mean? How else would we
get a nominee? The process needs lots of work, but still... And he's running her campaign?

3. Hilary would be better served by someone else
Penn is costing her. She needs someone who can spin without sounding like it.
Penn is a transparent spinner.

This guy gives the Cheerleader a run for his money.

But that's GOOD.

7. I've said this before, Penn is driving Sen. Clinton's campaign off a cliff
and picking her pocket on the way down. Six million dollars for statements like that. Really.

I don't support Sen. Clinton's bid for the Democratic nomination, but she does not deserve people like Penn and Wolfson.

12. Everyone knows that mismanagement of campaign funds and strategy...
...Is a hallmark of future greatness as a President.

Is he trying to sabotage her with this statement? How much do you want to bet that he wrote the lyrics to "Hillary 4 U & Me" as well?

Total idiot.

15. By that logic....
Why have Democratic primaries at all? Let's go back 100 years and let twits like Penn decide our nominees, since democracy seems to be a messy thing for a turd like this.

21. Mark Penn. Costing Hillary money and votes since 2007.
Why the Clintons didn't get rid of this sleazebag, and re-hire Carville and Begala who were at least semi-competent campaign managers, is beyond me.

Mark Penn's Firm Paid $4.3 Million By Clinton Campaign

February 6, 2008

(snip)

Through the course of the primary, Penn's consulting firm, Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, has been paid more than $4.3 million by the Clinton campaign, according to a review of campaign finance filings.

That total, compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, includes receipts for tasks ranging from polling and consulting to mail expenses and even photography. It does not include the $1.5 million the Clinton campaign is in debt to the firm.

33. Kind of true. But, not winning Democratic primaries is a sign of not being able to win the GE
Whoever wins ran a better campaign, period.

If either Clinton or Obama can't beat the other, why should anyone believe they could beat McCain? Being able to win the Democratic nomination shows that the nominee has a more resonant message and/or a better ground game and/or a greater ability to raise money for ads. Those are all signs of being better prepared to win the general election, even if he/she does not end of doing so.
