2. The two plans have more similarities than differences, AND
they both are significantly different from this guy's health care plan.

3. actually that is the problem, so to speak
She isn't saying people will go without care in her plan, his plan, or even GOP plans. After all, emergency rooms do provide care to uninsured people. The problem is, that under his plan, millions won't get insurance and make the insured pay their bills if they get sick or injured. That will make insurance unaffordable for the rest of us.

9. Nope, you can fine them for back premiums if they end up needing care, also....
if you accept the 15 million number that the Clintons use, then you need to create an enforcement entity that will police these 15 million people that will resist buying health care. How are you going to pay for the enforcement of her mandate?
That is going to get expensive fast.

11. that would be the Oh so evil mandate
the one Obama doesn't want to have. You can't have it both ways. Either you mandate payment (either up front and spreading the risk or after the fact and not spreading the risk) or you don't.

15. So why in the hell should anyone buy insurance
just wait til you get sick and pay your premium. That sounds like a good idea, I think I will just drop my auto insurance and if I get into an accident I am sure Nationwide will cover me if I send them a payment. :sarcasm: So those who don't participate get a free ride and we will have to pay higher rates to cover them. That's like someone working in a Union shop and taking advantage of all the benefits and then not paying Union Dues.

16. I don't believe Hillary has said otherwise.
He is disingenously switching the criticism of his plan.

The question is.. if you don't want health insurance, but you need health care, how are we going to get you to pay for it?

19. In addition to her healthcare plan she address mental health
which is a major issue for millions of americans. Remember, Reagan pretty much took away federal funding for mental health, left it up to the states. Now, these patients come to the ER, are admitted for 72 hours and released back on the street. Gone are the mental health facilities we had before Reagan. It's a vicious circle with mental health. And, look at Hillary's plan, address' mental health. She really is in touch with issues americans face.

18. If people want healthcare they can get it now; we don't need his plan.
They can pay high premiums, go broke paying deductibles, be denied care if an accountant decides so and possibly be tossed off if they dare to get sick.

Those that can't afford it now will continue as they are and be counted among those that don't want it.

So, what he said was indeed true but where's the change?

21. Exactly, why can't people see that?
That is the problem now, people can't afford health insurance but if they get sick we the taxpayers have to pay for them and in addition to that health care insurance for the rest of us goes up. What he is proposing is the continuation of the Bush Health Care Plan next he will be pushing Medical Savings Accounts.

it's obvious who provides the best (relatively speaking) plan.

23. reducing the cost of insurand by $2500 is not enough-that will be eaten up by the 30% increase/ year
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 12:08 AM by adapa
Obamas plan promises to reduce cost to a family by $2500 dollars. my insurance goes up by about 30% every year. Last year it was set to go up $250 per month. Multiply $250 by 12 months & you get an annual increase of $3000.

His plan does not address the basic fundamental idiotic 30% annual increase of premiums. Hillarys does.
