Meanwhile, back in the real world...
I'm worried sick at the thought of another Republican retaining the White House.

The press loves McCain -- they fawn over him and completely ignore his many flip flops and gaffes.

And all most of you here do is engage and encourage this Clinton Hateapalooza -- coming soon to a website near you.

If Obama gets the nomination - look to for the MSM to do the very same to him.

Some of you learned well from them. A little too well for my taste.

 Free Republic might as well shut their site down. We're handing the RW all the bullshit they need to use against us in November. Regardless of the candidate.

it's almost toxic around here most of the time now. Just the grotesque pics of Clinton being posted are straight off the hate-sites. If Obama's the nominee, the RWers won't play nice no matter how "cool" he wants to make politics.

11. K&R.. I used to get pissed
at Will Pitt when he'd do his rants about DU "eating it's own," years ago.

I think I finally get what he was talking about. But, this is the Dem Party tearing itself up. I wonder what will happen in November. We here...are just feeling it sooner. What happens when folks wake up out of this "rah rah" rock star/sports mania.

And, why did this have to happen? That's the question I asked as I watch the preening "Return of Crossifre" hacks on Russert's show this morning.. They are so self-satisfied. Why? And, why do we have the same hacks who've been in business for decades now...still sitting there pontificating in the same way we've heard them do over and over every election cycle. What do they know that we don't as they have their annual reunion.

21. It's already starting on the MSM.
They are beginning to worry that BO may kick McCain's ass just like HRC will. McCain isn't looking very strong here and, if turnouts for Dems (not including any voters who crossed over just to try and influence things) in the primaries stay at the same percentages in the GE, we will have a Democrat for President.

Hannity and Colmes and Bill O'Lielly both discussed this two nights ago. If Fox has already started, you can guarantee it is going to keep going.

I'm not saying that as soon as Obama gives it up (ie, wins the election) that the media won't be faithful. But the media likes to sleep around. But so far the chase is going well.

They're hot for him. Especially Matthews. He has big Jungle Fever.

29. The press does love McCain
But I truly think he's unelectable. I watched him on This Week and he appears almost senile, repeating a talking point within 3 minutes of its' first recitation. And his policies are truly horrific, policies that the public has already roundly rejected. The only way he can win is to distance himself from the Bush nightmare and for some bizarre reason he's embracing it.

McCain will have to go negative and that'll hurt him as well - he'll look like a cranky, out-of-touch walking corpse with an unstable personality. The press can love him all they want but most people will judge him on his policies and personality and he can't win on either.

31. This is true...
But we got him and now he's a known entity - a disaster. He'd be unelectable if he was legally able to run again and that's why it's stunning that McCain has chosen to hitch his wagon to someone with a 30% approval rating. And Bush didn't come across as sick, cranky and too old for the job to boot.

I never underestimate the stupidity of the American public, but I really think McCain was a terrible choice for the GOP. Romney would have been much more difficult to beat.

Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 04:16 PM by oldcoot
No matter who gets the nomination, he or she may have to reunite the party. In order to accomplish this task, he or she may select the other candidate as his/her running mate. If you are one of the most outspoken critics of your candidate's rival, how are you going to feel about the rival being on your candidate's ticket?
