Could this be a sign of Clinton/Edwards
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 05:01 PM by margotb822
Here is an interesting article from the AP: New Clinton economic message has echoes of Edwards

I know that many Edwards supporters have gone to Obama, but I think Clinton's message has changed and she is gaining in the blue-collar domain that was once Edwards'. I am an Edwards supporter, and would love to see him on the ticket (even though he says he will not consider VP).

Edwards has met with both Clinton and Obama, but could Hillary's shift be an attempt to woo Edwards? Could we have a Clinton/Edwards ticket?

18. Edwards would be wasted in a VP slot
No matter who wins this nomination, I'd rather see John as AG or on the Supreme Court.

2. It would be a great ticket, but...
I think Edwards would be more effective as AG.

One of the reasons I support Hillary now after Edwards dropped out is precisely her move to more strongly support the middle class and poor.

6. I have heard people say the AG
should be a Prosecutor, but maybe that is what is wrong with the whole picture. Maybe it should be a person who is a defender, someone who has defended Americans. It's definitely a thought. I would definitely love to see Edwards involved in the next Democratic administration.

12. I, too, back Edwards as AG. But I would like to see Hillary as Senate Majority Leader.
Obviously, I back Obama. But I really think Hillary would be a tough and effective Senate Majority Leader - and that would also be an historic position. I am no big fan of Harry Reid, that's for sure.

That would be a potent leadership lineup. Please take this in the sincere spirit I mean it to be taken. Just because I back Obama doesn't mean I don't see talent where it exists.

16. I think you are being sincere
Look at all the talent we have. There are many great and influential positions for all of our candidates in the next Democratic administration. We're going to need all the talent we can get to undo this mess!

3. I doubt he would want to try for VP again.
Especially with Bill Clinton in the picture too. I doubt he'd get much out of it.

4. Edwards knows Bill will be the real VP. He's not naive enough to think otherwise.

5. Lots of interesting things are happening
Gore is getting involved as a broker, I read today. That was a bit of a shock.

The game is far from over, it seems...

7. Why I don't want Edwards as VP
Traditional VPs have little power or influence. They go to funerals. Historically, the power Cheney wields as VP is almost unprecedented.

We need Edwards in a stronger position. Attorney General or Supreme Court Justice. Both positions better suit his gifts and passion, and he would be able to accomplish alot more for us.

Both candidates are trying to win his endorsement and then hopefully, his supporters.

11. No we can't have a Clinton-Edwards ticket, because she can't win the nomination.
with or without Edwards, she's going down

15. Obama or Clinton would both be fools to put Edwards on the ticket.
He would be laughed out of the room as the Democrat's perennial VP candidate.

This would be the fourth time since 2003 he would end up pimping another platform and it would only serve to further calls that he is a phony.

All of these are reasons why the position will not be offered or accepted by Edwards, ever.

20. That's a bit harsh, but I don't see Edwards as VP, either.
He's moved on. I bet he sees what Al Gore is doing to save the planet, and sees himself playing that kind of statesmanlike role regarding eradicating poverty.

Would love to see him as AG, but I think he wouldn't take that, either. Although that's more likely than VP, which is out, I am sure.

17. A Hillary/John ticket would be magnificent! However, I wouldn't
read too much into the AP article. Hillary's life's work has focused on lower and middle class disadvantages. In the last 8 years she has worked hard to broaden her experience, strength on national security. I suspect that is what most newbies to the political scene see. However for those of us who have followed her, we know that Hillary will never rest until there is Universal Health Care in America. John came into the race with a bold and courageous message that he would take on the lobbyists and corporations that were stealing America's future and denying them health care. With John out of the race, this burden is now fully on Hillary's shoulders. They both are damn fine fighters, working toward the same goal and that is returning the levers of power to middle Americans -- the Americans that care for each other.
