Hillary does well with Establishment Voters
What is an Establishment Voter? An Establishment Voter is not someone who is part of the Establishment. Rather, an Establishment Voter is a voter who votes for whoever his or her party establishment tells them to vote for. Establishment voters like to vote on the basis of "the name they know", and always give the benefit of the doubt to the Establishment candidate, rather than the insurgent candidate. If the Establishment voter is uninformed about the race and the candidates, then they will vote for whoever the party Establishment tells them to vote for. They look for cues from politicians, TV talking heads and leaders of special interest "groups". Hillary Clinton is the preferred choice of more of the party establishment than Barack Obama, and is thus doing better with Establishment voters. Republican primary voters are predominantly establishment voters, as their Establishment candidate always wins the nomination.

4. On what planet was McCain the establishment candidate?
It is clear the GOP establishment ranked him close to last.

6. Republican establishment is not the same as Conservative establishment
Among those who think of themselves as Republicans first, above all else, McCain is their guy. For them it's always been about the elephant.

Among movement conservatives, they tend to view the GOP as an ally of convenience. Some of them consider themselves to be independents (Pat Buchanan), but even among those that call themselves Republicans, conservatism comes first. They support the GOP when the party nominates conservative candidates, which is most of the time. McCain is not, never was, and may not ever be, their guy.

7. That's good news for supporters of Obama because there are record numbers of "first time" voters
this year in the primaries. May they continue to come to the polls! :-)
