Hillary Clinton campaign 'under the weather'
hmmmm...what IS going on in the Clinton camp?

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/02/hillary_clinton_campaign_under.html

Clinton has been taking a hit locally for running a campaign from afar, using TV ads to criticize Obama in advance of her arrival in the state on Saturday. Clinton and Obama made separate appearances before a state Democratic fundraiser in Milwaukee last night and the greeting she received was markedly cooler than the one Obama got.

As for Sunday, the Clinton campaign is re-examining its plans for other stops. She is supposed to visit Wausau and Madison before returning to Milwaukee but aides say the weather—which would have made an easy excuse for them to exit the state—has thrown the schedule up in the air...

...Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s communications director, said Obama “made a promise to the American people that he is not keeping.”

“That’s not change you can believe in,” Wolfson said.

COMMENTS

Howard Wolfson needs to spend less time criticizing the Obama camp and more time looking for a job, since most likely Clinton will be replacing him when they lose the next three contests. If we want to talk about keeping promises, let's start with Clinton wanting to sue to reinstate the delegates to Florida and Michigan after Clinton initially pledged to uphold the DNC rules. These kind of political games (that Wolfson and Clinton are so good at) are the very reason Americans have felt so jaded about politics for the past several decades. Let's wake up from the political coma we've all been in and end the Clinton-Bush Dynasty. Clinton is right about one thing: this is her time... her time to exit the stage.

2. It means Team Hillary is running out of money to pay extras to show up.
She's struggling to get a few thousand to show even in venues where she should have support.

3. If her disastrous campaign is any indication of how she would run the country,
she has written her own obituary. Amen.

14. right
but one or two events cancelled for Obama isn't a big deal since he's been there all week. 1 or 2 events for Clinton is like 1/2 her schedule.

It just keeps coming. Sooner or later Hillary is going to need to step aside for the good of the nation and the party.

Clinton postpones 2 campaign stops, still plans Wausau visit

Associated Press - February 17, 2008 3:15 PM ET

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin's nasty weather has forced Hillary Clinton to postpone a Madison rally.

The weather also forced Clinton to postpone a town hall meeting in DePere set for Sunday afternoon. She's still expected to show up at a Wausau town meeting later Sunday afternoon, though.

Clinton's campaign has rescheduled the DePere appearance to 9:30 a.m. Monday. Her workers say she'll hold the Madison rally -- originally scheduled for Sunday night -- sometime tomorrow, too.

Clinton's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Barack Obama, canceled his only appearance Sunday, set for mid-afternoon in Kaukauna, because of the weather.

9. Derailed by Weather, Clinton Improvises in Wisconsin

Derailed by Weather, Clinton Improvises in Wisconsin

By Jose Antonio Vargas
MILWAUKEE -- In campaignspeak, a day like this is called an "OTR." Not off the record, but off the rail, off the schedule, off the plan.

But when freezing rain and slippery roads derail a packed itinerary, you gotta do what you gotta do. Improvise.

Sen. Hillary Clinton was scheduled to speak at three rallies today in the
Badger State, first at St. Norbert College in De Pere, then at University of Wisconsin at Wassau, followed by an event in Madison. But bad weather across the state -- snow is due to fall any minute now -- has forced the campaign to cancel the first event. She's not the only one. Sen. Barack Obama canceled a town hall meeting in Kaukauna.

To replace the De Pere stop, Clinton dropped by Miss Katie's Diner, just a short drive away from her hotel, for a late breakfast, ordering eggs and hash browns. Flanked by Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton and Rep. Tammy Baldwin, and trailed by traveling press corps of about 20, she shook hands, posed for photos and rattled the crowd.

………..

A short drive from Miss Katie's, Clinton stepped out of her black SUV and greeted shoppers and workers at El Rey, a Mexican grocery store in this city's south side. The store owner immediately announced in the store speaker: "Bienvideo, Hillary!" With Lawton by her side, Clinton toured the aisles, passing the cans of green pickled jalapeno peppers on sale for $2.09 a pop and snacking on chips and mole with roasted chicken that were being offered as samples near the produce section.

Though Clinton sent her daughter Chelsea and former president Bill Clinton to campaign for her across the state last week, Clinton just arrived here in Wisconsin yesterday. Her first event was at the Brat Stop, a landmark watering hole in Kenosha, about 30 miles south of Milwaukee and 50 miles north of Chicago. She received a warm, boisterous reception from the packed, shoulder-to-shoulder crowd, some of whom carried signs such as "Wisconsin HEARTS Hillary," "HRC # 1," "Hillary's the One!" and "Welcome, Hillary!" One her supporters yelled out loud: "I just want to say to the naysayers, 'Give 'em hell, Hillary!'"

……….

11. Why would the store owner mock Hillary by saying, "Bienvideo?" It sounds like he thinks she's
a fake or something.
