Hillary's candidacy is in its "Last Throes"...
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 05:43 PM by sfam
Unlike Cheney's misuse of that phrase, I'm not sure how else to interpret the completely separate strands coming out of Hillary's campaign right now. She admires Barack and is honored to be on the stage with him, yet she also is pointing a finger at his campaign, yelling, "Shame on you."

Clearly there are multiple voices competing for attention in her campaign - all of which culminates in a completely herky-jerky "split personality" message - one which really does seem like a campaign in its last throes. She wants to take the high road to win; she's really to go thermonuclear on Barack to deflate his fallacious balloon; she's ready to go out in valedictory style, and she's going to do the Huckabee thing till there's not mathematical chance left. How many personalities will we see in the Ohio debate, I wonder?

Its a fair bet that she loses Texas. Like everywhere else since Super Tuesday, Barack is killing her on the ground game there, and the trends are following the same pattern as previous Barack blowouts. If so, perhaps we'll see a return to coherency, with one of her campaign's multiple personalities winning out.

Regardless of how the end-game happens, you'd hope she finally settles on one personality and sticks with it. Any guesses on that?

1. Another thread without any substance
These statements one way or the other against Clinton or Obama serve absolutely nothing but to fill server space with wasted bits of nonsense.

What purpose does this thread serve?

2. Points to the inconsistent messages coming out from the Clinton campaign
The thread seems pretty clear to me. Her messages are contradictory. There is nothing coherent coming out. My assessment is that her campaign is self-destructing, or in its last throes. The question I'm asking is do we think we'll start getting a coherent message out of her, or will this continue.

3. Not now
She's abandoned the "Xerox Campaign" and has found a new, catchier campaign message

"Abandon All Hope"

- Which I think will really resonate.

4. Someone needs to stop her. This is a sideshow for the MSM and a disaster for the party.

7. Well, if the campaign is in its last throes, this implies the end is near...
I have a hard time seeing the Clinton campaign pulling out two victories on March 4 if their campaign continues its multiple-personality approach. Whether its horrid for the party or not, it WOULD make better sense for her to just take one approach and stick with it - meaning she stays in attack mode throughout the entire debate, vice doing the sincere "I love Barack" and the "He's a phoney" message combined.

Cognitive dissonance rarely results in a change.

8. Her praise and then trirade were no coincidence(she knew the contents of the mailer for weeks)
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 06:03 PM by Levgreee
she used the praise to try to paint herself as nice, and in a good light; honored to be with Obama. She wanted to set peoples' perception of her as a positive and gracious one.

Then the next day, she discovered Obama, even after she was so nice, stabbed her in the back with those mailers!!! How ungracious! How duplicitous! Such strong contrast to Hillary's warmth! SHAME ON HIM!!!

Hillary is running an "emotional" campaign, now.

She has drifted her focus away from the issues, to trying to make the voters "feel" bad about Barrack, or "feel" good about her, as a strong emotional feeling either way can be the quickest way to change a voter's opinion.

She of course has been told that Obama seems cold and standoffish, by some, so she is trying to draw out that contrast as much as possible.

People's emotions can't be played around with that much. Especially by a politician, as people almost always consider their comments suspect.

11. She exhibits all of the moves of a loser.
Her meltdown over Obama's fliers, now her mocking behavior - reminiscent of Bush One's meltdown facing a beat-down by Bill Clinton in 1992.
