Who was the most recent especially 'experienced' president?
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 11:49 PM by Levgreee
I don't think Bush II was... I don't know about Bill, Bush I, Reagan, Carter, Ford, etc...

Who is the measuring stick we are perhaps should be using here, when claiming a candidate is inexperienced?

1. Bill was a long-standing governor. Bush I was VP, CIA chief, Congressman, and UN Ambassador.

5. Reagan was Gov of CA
I actually do give that credit because it's one of the largest economies in the world and there are a number of military bases there as well. Poppy had a lot of foreign affairs experience, CIA, etc. Carter, Clinton and Georgie were the least experienced in 100 years.

7. I would say Bush 41.
Congress, RNC head, CIA, UN ambassador, VPOTUS. Clinton a close second - 12 years as Governor has to count for something, right?

10. Abraham Lincoln.
He was defeated for the Senate seat in 1858, served several terms in the Illinois legislature - where he supported bills that bankrupted the State of Illinois - and was a failed anti-war one term congressman.
