Deedee Myers is Clinton's former press secretary and she
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 08:36 AM by my3boyz
said she thinks that Hillary's stance this weekend will hurt her. She said that she perhaps came off a little harsh (not her exact words). She said unfortunately when women come out that way they have to walk a fine line. I think she is right. The only pundits that I can think of that seem totally middle of the road are Deedee and David Gergen. Even when I don't agree with them, I think the come off as fair.

1. Isn't DeeDee working for Hillary?
Or is it her sister or both?

2. It is a double standard. bush's meaness was never exploited by the MSM
remember when he mocked the lady on death row who was begging for her life? Or his wonderful cowboy comments on Iraq, and our soldiers over there. He was still portrayed as someone who "people would like to have a beer with

beck and others from the MSM have been painting Hillary in this way, and I have no doubt that is their attitude toward women in general.

Incidently, I am a guy and an Obama supporter, and I see the obvious double standard

3. It's less a woman issue than a Democrats issue...
I'm not saying gender doesn't somewhat play into it but the fact is that if our candidates were 2 males and one of them said exactly the same things Hillary has been saying, in the exact same tone of voice and demeanor then the question would be "Is so-and-so too angry to be president?!?!?!" It's the same variant on the Howard Dean thing from 2004. Any time any Democrat lets emotion slip they are attacked. They are attacked for not showing emotion (Gore, Kerry) and they are attacked for showing too much emotion. It's got much less to do with Hillary being a woman than it does her being a Democrat. McCain is a million times more shrill and angry than Hillary is on even her worst day or moment but you'll just never hear that as being a factor or a concern because he's the Maverick.

It sucks but it's true.

7. Actually, the subject of McCain's temper HAS been mentioned by the MSM
I've heard it brought up numerous times, in fact.

13.  this is what? ironic?
dee dee was qutoed saying this----"MNSBC, in particular, drew Myer's ire. The culture of the station, she argued, had allowed for misogynistic rhetoric, like when now-suspended correspondent David Shuster said daughter Chelsea Clinton had been "pimped out" to recruit superdelegates."

Myers: What "Professionals" Came Up With Clinton's Plan? - Politics on The Huffington Post

and the real reason she`s on the show

"It sounds to me very much like you resent the way she treated you.

Do I resent it? You know, I wished that she would have been more direct with me on a number of things. Yeah. I mean I don’t know if I resent it. I just think that it would have been more effective. ... It would’ve been better if people had been more direct. But, you know, the White House is a place that’s full of intrigue and plots and subplots, and there’s always something going on."

5. Gergen is pretty fair, but the wild weekend Hillary just had could only be explained by saying she
was really drunk at the time.

15. Having met and worked with Dee Dee, I can tell you for a fact that she's very much her own person
There's NO thread connecting her, George or Chris Matthews.

I absolutely cannot BELIEVE some of the stuff I'm reading on DU these days. :eyes:

10. So if a man implicitly denigrated his opponent's supporters once he was staring defeat in the face
it would work out just fine? Any precedents for that?

This is getting old.

if she comes out fighting she is shrill or an bitch, if she don't she is weak. She has tried it all, no matter what she does the MSM sides with Obama. :puke:

14. I watched an interview with DeeDee this morning on The Today Show
And mostly what she talked about was how sexism in this country has negatively affected Hillary's campaign and how much the media was not only playing into that but pretty much giving Obama a free pass. She was SPOT ON.

What interview were you watching?

16. Hillary is never at her best when she's in the role as the "scold." She
should have learned that after her SC debate performance.
