Earlier this month in the same poll, they were a statistical dead heat. Clinton's negative attacks have hurt her.

There is no need to rub it in or behave in an in your face manner. It's good news Obama is ahead. Show some empathy for Hillary's supporters. This stuff has got to hurt. How would you want them to react, if the tables were turned?

And we need not follow in the footsteps of failure.

We need to start acting in an appropriate manner. Beyond that self interest, it's a matter of doing the right thing. While we all faught for our candidate, at the end of the day we are all Democrats and we should never try to hurt one another.

The poll found that in prospective general-election match-ups, McCain beats Clinton 50 percent to 46 percent, while McCain and Obama would run neck-and-neck, with McCain at 48 percent and Obama at 47 percent support.

I wouldn't be too concerned, though- right now there is a lot of tension between Hillary and Obama supporters which skew the general election polls. (i.e. lots of angry Hillary fans saying they will vote for McCain over Obama when they won't do so once they cool down).

The latest USA Today/Gallup poll found that 66 percent of likely voters, regardless of party affiliation, see Obama as a unifying force, with McCain seen as a unifier by 59 percent of those surveyed.

On the other side of the coin, a majority of respondents said Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Mike Huckabee would add to the partisanship that often besets Washington. Of those surveyed, 57 percent said Clinton would add to the partisan rancor, while 47 percent felt the same way about Huckabee. The poll found that along party lines, Democrats see Obama as more of a unifier by 14 points, and McCain leads Huckabee by 22 points on the same question. Among independents, Obama and McCain are seen as the candidates more capable of bringing Washington together.
