AP Poll Shows Bush, Kerry in Close Race
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040323/ap_on_el_pr/president_ap_poll_2

Reading these polls. Continue to show why Kerry will need Clark as his VP. He simply has to have someone that is considered strong on defense as his running mate. Its as simple as that. Edwards does nothing to help Kerry on that issue. People already think Kerry will do a better job on the economy. I find it disgusting that the chimp is enjoying good poll numbers simply because there hasn't been another Terroist attack on the country. Do people not realize the first one probably could of been prevented. ughhhhhhhh

1. Thanks again Ralph
Bush was backed by 46 percent of voters, Kerry by 43 percent and independent Ralph Nader (news - web sites) by 5 percent, according to the poll conducted for the AP by Ipsos-Public Affairs.

We wouldn't want you and your latte-sipping, backpacking through Europe supporters to have to give up your Bush tax cuts now, would we.

2. The number is a lie

Go out and find anybody who still supports Bush. Go on and try. The only people that still do are employed by Fox, MSNBC, CNN, ABC and/or the administration itself. That's a lot of people, but I don't believe it's enough to give him a 50% approval rating.

Remember, the Diebold election theft cannot work -- it cannot work -- unless the polls show a very tight race. So, no matter what Bush does or says, no matter that no demographic, not even white males, shows a strong support for Bush, the "official" polls from the networks and cable news outlets will show a "very close race."

3. Where the heck do you live?

Run around the backwoods for awhile and you see there are a lot of white men like myself but different in the sense they are completely deluded by the right-wing Republican message.

Bush has strong support from the Nascar dads, fundies and military personnel. Almost the whole South and most of the midwest will go to him.

We need New Hampshire and West Virginia badly.

Kerry can win but he has to hammer the battleground states and make sure to make the rounds and shore up support in the usual Dem states.

4. I agree wrt BBV & the "close race" meme...

But I have to admit, my workplace seems to be mostly republicans, who may grumble about some things, but I suspect will vote the party ticket, and I can't talk to my parents about politics without hearing the latest Fox talking points and how much worse Gore would have been. From my perspective, lots of loyal Bush supporters out there still.

6. Another way to look at it.
As others have pointed out, there are people who support the Shrub (as odd as that seems). But here's what makes me optimistic: how many Democrats do you know that will voting for Shrub? How many Rebublicans *won't* be voting for him?

I believe there's enough discontent among GOP rank and file, the they just won't be able to stand up to an energized Democratic base.

My 2 cents.

9. You should get out more!
I know lots of people who will vote for Bush.

Are they happy with him? No! Do they disagree with him on some things? Yes! Are they disappointed in his Presidency? Yes!

Will they vote for Kerry? No

Why? He's a Massachusetts Liberal who will not keep us safe, will let the UN determine our foreign policy, will try to arrest terrorists rather than killing them, he will spend too much money, he will pander to gays, minorities, etc, etc.

Like it or not, there's many people out there who feel this way.

8. Most folks supporting Bush are like religious zealots, imho.
Edited on Tue Mar-23-04 08:03 PM by w4rma
To break the faith of a zealot the policy has to affect them in a very explainable, easy to blame and negative way.

10. That's the problem with Kerry
Edited on Tue Mar-23-04 08:27 PM by DaveSZ
He's a Massachusetts liberal who is perceived as weak on defense regardless of the fact he actually fought for his country.

I'd still vote for him of course, but even I have some reservations about how he will conduct his foreign policy.

Too bad general clark didn't get any traction in the primaries.
