2. I like Kucinich.
But it's the job of the VP to sit there and look pretty, and draw votes.

Kucinich could be more productive somewhere else.

5. Kucinich is a man ahead of his time
His ideas and plans and ACTIONS show the way the US should go in health care and foreign policy.

6. Why would he pick someone who refused to promise to support the Democratic nominee?
There are plenty of loyal Democrats who are much more qualified.

7. Many here refused to promise to support the nominee if it was Clinton.
I wont forget that either.

The ABC threads were a daily occurrence and encouraged around here.

12. I don't think his supporters are much different than him. Remember when he said she wouldn't get
his votes? Whereas he would get hers.

He's a baby, and I'm being kind.

23. My point is he was not referring to Democrats
Disloyal Democrats have no place on the national ticket.

9. If not VP, Kucinich should get a Cabinet (or Cabinet-level) post
in an Obama administration. Hey, maybe Dennis could convince Barack that single-payer is the way to go on healthcare!!!

they recognize what excellent work Dennis could do for them.

14. It's a shame he has this primary fight on his hands ... but ...
that may make him more available for a post in either a Clinton or Obama admin (looking on the bright side).

13. Not if he wants to win (and I like Kucinich!)
Kucinich is a electoral killer in the General election.

You want to force just about EVERY indie into McCain's camp... nominate Kucinich.

The Obama campaign already HAS every Kucinich voter in their camp (vis a vis McCain). Adding him to the ticket brings the campaign NOTHING at all.

Quit thinking with your ideological heart and think with your head. Obama needs to beat McCain. Adding Kucinich complicates the ability to achieve that goal.

16. He's great on labor, though. Wouldn't he be able to win over Reagan Democrats who maybe
stuck with the Repubs out of the fear of "terra"? But now they are waking up to the fact that "terra" isn't really a player here, and are back to looking at how much their life sucks with a poor economy and their jobs going overseas?

20. Kucinich is a NET loss in the GE. Obama will already get all the Dems.. Kucinich loses the Indies.
You have to think Electorally:

1. Does Dennis help Obama win Ohio? No. Kucinich isn't all that popular even in his home state.

2. Does Dennis bring in a voting block that Obama's not ALREADY going to get? No.

Dennis is a lightning rod, and would be best utilized in a cabinet position AFTER Obama has secured the election.

Kucinich is a drag on the ticket. That's just electoral reality.

31. Kuch is a bad idea all around
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 03:57 PM by Aya Reiko
When he was Cleveland's mayor, he was prone to the same kind of cronyism Chimpy has shown. He also has been proven ineffective as a leader.

Plus he only appeals to the extreme left. Obama needs someone who'll appeal to moderates and possibly the center-right.

Not to mention, what position does he hold? He's not a SecDef guy, nor DHS, nor Interior. Just what cabinet position would he fit into?

Apparently labor isn't their biggest issue.

I think Richardson would bring more to the ticket (assuming Gore is not available!).
