Bill Richardson: Time soon to call Democratic race
Bill Richardson: Time soon to call Democratic race
by Mark Silva

After Tuesday’s primary elections, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said today, it will be time to assess whether the campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination should go on any longer.

The Republican nominee will be up and running, he said, there is too much time between Tuesday and the next big contest – the primary in Pennsylvania on Apr. 22 – and the contest in Ohio and Texas between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has grown too contentious for the party’s own good.

“I’m just worried that the tone of this campaign has gotten excessively negative and it’s going to hurt us in November,’’ said Richardson, who abandoned his own bid for the nomination after fairing poorly in early primaries. He appeared on CBS News’ Face the Nation today with a new, finely trimmed beard and a sense of great ease.

Clinton’s contention that Obama is not ready to serve is just wrong, said Richardson, who also cited Obama for waging some unfair assaults on Clinton.

1. Looks to me like Richardson wants to endorse Obama but...
The Clintons have pressured him to stay out of it.

I feel for him.

8. Well not completely seals it.
But I think he has made it clear that this DOES NOT NEED TO GO ON after this primary.

So in my view Clinton has to win 100 delegates (Which is next to impossible) for her to make ANY KIND of case for this bullshit to continue.

It is almost over folks! The ship is sinking and the supers will finish this if she wont exit gracefully!

IT IS OVER CLINTON!

To her supporters I suggest you stop your desperate last min postings and turn on the TV and relax. If you want to do anything than please urge her to exit gracefully after this primary.

I am not calling the election. I am calling for the obvious bullshit to end afterwards. Clinton had her chance to exit before this and now the math must be showed once and for all.

4. I read elsewhere that he said whomever has the most delegates after Tuesday should be the nominee
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/2/105441/9335

If that's true, he's going to come out strong for Obama after 3/4 and he certainly won't be alone.

6. He All But Enorsed Obama...
I think he just agreed not to endorse him before this is settled Tuesday out of loyalty to Bill.

7. Richardson will endorse Obama tomorrow Monday
in my opinion. He wanted to lay the ground work today in Face The nation and is probably telephoning Hillary and Bubba his decision tonight. Seems like it is the Modus operandi of the SUper-delegates...remember that Dodd did it the same way.

9. I saw it today and Richardson is running for VP period
No matter who wins. I didn't see him leaning one way or the other
except that he wants the VP spot.

11. How could you NOT have seen him leaning towards Obama?
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 01:44 PM by jenmito
He gave so many signs, like saying he's loyal to the Clintons BUT...

He hates to see negative campaigning...

He thinks the person with the most delegates (and NOT superdelegates) after tuesday should be the nominee...

Obama IS ready to be president...

And I think he wants to be Obama's VP.

10. He would make a good VP. Because he criticized Obama from the Left
just a bit to the left, to be sure, but it helps.

12. He would make a POWERFUL running mate for Obama...
...he's got so much experience on his resume that they'd hit the old "but what has Obama ever DONE..." whine right out of the park. He'd bring in the Latino vote, he's a Westerner (don't underestimate that appeal-- there's a lot of folks here in the west who are sick to death of East-of-Mississippi politicians trashing on the west's needs and concerns,) and he's got a warm, just-us-folks style on the stump, even if it doesn't come through the cameras. With the kliegs on Obama, Bill could work the crowd to great effect.

I think he'd be a great Veeper for EITHER candidate, and for much the same set of reasons.

BTW, he is hanging tough on getting us New Mexicans some relief from the insurance company vampires, pushing and cajoling and threatening and stroking a very cranky herd of cats (the NM lege) into a special session just to sort out the stuff that got lost in the fur-flying regular session.

encouragingly,
Bright
