I had big plans for this afternoon and now I'm SICK:(
Dammit!

I was supposed to go to the sign-painting event this afternoon - now my husband is going drop off the food I was bringing because I
am coughing, running, and now I have F*cking Fever! I am so pissed. I have this week off and I will probably be sick the whole damn time.
Apparently this is a record flu season here in NC and even those who were vaccinated are getting it.

I'm really hoping it's just a short bug and not the flu. *fingers crossed* I was going to go to the Chapel Hill phone banking party tomorrow and Tuesday.
Now, if I can stop coughing, I guess I'll have to call from home so I don't infect anyone else. :-( That's just not as fun.

I guess I'll get on the website and give a little more money...THAT I can do.

2. Oh MAN! That sucks.
I was lamenting that it's Sunday and I can't get Tamiflu. Maybe I should be glad. :o

My sympathies!! I know how miserable hives are. :(

seems to be getting over it, but it looks ugly.

the worst is, my sons 7th birthday party is happening downstairs, and i cant go because my doctor would not rule out a mild case of chickenpox-
(pretty sure it was an allergic reaction, only one wave of rash- but oddly fluid filled... too much info?)

hope your flu passes quick and painless!

4. NC_Nurse Dr Gupta said it was record flu season
And all the states had very unusual flu's except florida which just had a regional flu, whatever that means. Then he said the flu shot wasn't working very well this year, it protects about 40% of people because the CDC had picked the wrong strains to inoculate against.

9. Damn. I even got the kind you sniff because they said it had more strains
it covered....:( I haven't had the flu in years. What bad timing.

But if it's anything like the upper respiratory thing that went through my family, it'll be 3-4 days of a fever and a cough that lingers for two weeks. :( It was bad.

I don't get sick often, and when I do it's usually short lived, but there are some nasty bugs out there this season. Drink lots of fluids and rest rest rest. Your health is most important here, take care of yourself first. And don't go getting the other volunteers sick. :P

Hope it's nothing...get well soon!

10. Yeah, this year's bug was bad.
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 02:13 PM by backscatter712
It got me a few weeks ago, even though I got the flu shot, and it gave me that damned residual cough, which I STILL have a touch of, and it ate my vocal cords and left me with laryngitis for a week.

On the bright side, if you work with a bunch of Freepers, or know a bunch, and you can get out of bed at all, as Scott Adams put it, you might as well get up and enjoy one of the few legal ways to inflict physical bodily harm on other human beings...

More serious advice. Aside from the usual remedies - OTC drugs, rest, fluids, quarantine... I'd say go see a doctor, NOW, maybe hit an urgent care center if you have the means - if you just got hit with it today, maybe it's early enough that you can get some Tamiflu and take several days, if not weeks off your illness.

11. Exactly. My first thought was "maybe it's just a cold", and thought I could
still go, but the fever clinched it. I don't want to sideline the whole team! :)

GObama!!! *cough*

Thanks. :hi:

C'mon - sick - meh - get up and get active! x(

Okay, I'm totally kidding. I hope you feel better soon.

You know the drill - fluids and rest - and stay away from campaign activists!

8. Consider trying this stuff
http://www.oscillo.com/

It's amazing really. Four dosages usually alleviate the symptoms entirely.

It doesn't mask the symptoms but expedites the whole process.

It's really popular in Europe and safe for kids with no contraindications.

Feel better soon.

13. I actually have tried it years ago. It's homeopathic and I don't doubt it helps
sometimes. I don't remember it doing much then, but maybe it depends on the bug.
I'll consider it. My husband is already off to the store for the obligatory ginger ale. :-)

Thanks.
