At the rate we`re going, Laura Bush will run on her experience in 2012.
We already have a president who will do anything to win....tell any lie, break any law, debase any opponent. George W. Bush did a fine job of exploiting our fears, exaggerating his accomplishments and defining those who didn`t agree. We were either with him and America or against him and America. Bush had Frank Luntz focus groups, the Karl Rove trashing machine, inside-the-beltway kingmakers and a malleable press. Nothing was going to stand between him and what he thought was rightfully his for the taking, including Iraq and our rights. Enter Team Hillary.
I don`t know who Clinton`s drama coach is, but he/she deserves an ovation after Hillary`s 4-star performance last week. She could have been a perfect Limbaugh sidekick the way she twirled and mocked. Rush did it to someone with Parkinson`s disease, Clinton chose hopeful Obama supporters. Same shit, different day. Even Bill Clinton...."America`s first Black president"....got in on the act. After all, he`s known for defending his wife`s honor, right? Then it`s surrogate time with spin spun pumped out on a virtual conveyor belt. Obama isn`t ready. Obama is an empty suit. Obama loves NAFTA. Obama is a Muslim. Obama has no experience. John McCain has experience. Here`s a picture of Obama in Terrorist Garb.
Here`s what I think happened. While Hillary Clinton was fixated on an I`M TOUGH ENOUGH appeasement ritual for the right, she didn`t see the crowd gathering on the left. That`s where Obama and the gazillion fed-up Americans were. They had a copy of their Constitution, photos of all the dead soldiers and a long list of empty promises.
The invasion of Iraq was a deal breaker for many, many Americans, even some long-time Clinton supporters. My voting decision tomorrow will be based on principle, not misguided loyalty and no amount of Lanny Davis/James Carville spin will change my mind.
