Why is Rasmussen polling Kerry the best?
when it's known to be GOP-biased? And why is Kerry polling so far ahead in Iowa than the rest of the nation? The results in Iowa in the last 3 elections were almost a complete mirror of the national results.

4. Just because a poll is done
by a Republican or a Democratic group, doesn't mean its necessarily biased. It means it could be biased, but then all polls can be. Democratic politicians tend to hire Democratic pollsters, but they don't do it because they think the pollsters are going to spin things to look as though they're going better for the Democrat they really are.

When people stop viewing a poll as objective, the pollster's just wasting his time. If Rasmussen is really working us over, then he's going to hurt his own business because nobody will hire him. His business suffered after he called 2000 for Bush by ten points or whatever ridiculous margin, and one would hope he'd learned his lesson.

5. One theory on Iowa ... might help in Minn, too
The Corn Belt is actually home to longstanding pacifist/Isolationist tradition which has, of course, been dormant for quite a while.

Before the Cold War ... actually, even through the beginning of the Cold War, the general rule was the closer you got to the middle of the country, the stronger the Isolationism. Jeannete Rankin from WYOMING voting alone against WWI, etc.

9. Yes, Montana
Indeed, Janette Rankin was from Montana.
Wyoming elected the nation's first woman governor, Nellie Tayloe Ross.

corporateers who run the other polls?

10. I think Bush is doing worse than polls suggest
And maybe this is one poll that is tracking it better. Bush is facing huge troubles on all kinds of fronts, and in my opinion Kerry will win surprisingly convincingly in Nov.

11. As far as Iowa is concerned
I read somewhere that there is a huge contingent of either Reservists or National Guard (maybe both) troops that are serving in Iraq, & the people of Iowa are pretty pissed off about it.

13. rasmussen has questionable polling methods
his polling methods are not very good so results are not as accurate as others are. he might get lucky sometimes and be right, but we should not trust this poll.

15. Iowa.
A guns-or-butter state that has always been on the side of butter. Almost no defense industry.

High per capita population of seniors. They're generally smart having grown up in some of the top school systems in the country. They've probably just been paying attention and discarding the lies like yourself.
