will Karen Hughes's schtick work?
Obviously her main job is to humanize Bush. She's all over the place, rehasing all that old crap about how exciting it is for a normal person to actually be in the White House. :wow: And all the old crap about her stupid family, all the fictitious anecdotes and the lies about why she left.

But will that work now? Charlie Rose gave her a surprisingly tough interview, he went through all the softball crap but he really seemed impatient and annoyed by that stuff. And he actually corrected some of her facts, and put up some resistance to her propaganda. She looked a little surprised, I thought I saw her face get a little red.

1. It works with me
Her coming back home to the white house intensifies my already intense beliefs that george bush is the worst president ever; that he is a miserable failure and that he has no concept of integrity, honor or morality. Welcome home bitch, I look forward to watching your summer go straight to fucking hell with your buds in DC.

3. Hi Chief
We can only hope that if, with her help, Bush gets elected and continues the PNAC agenda, the little darlin' she moved back to Texas for, is one of the first drafted.

6. Hello to you PsN2Wind
I'm sure the lil darling will be at the head of the line anxiously willing to serve our country. Isn't Karen the perfect model of good, clean upright christian conservative morality? And since we all know that's true, why would this administration with its overflowing wealth of goodness need her to come back?

2. Oh Probably -
otherwise they wouldn't throw her out there. They need a woman (besides Condi w/ her evil look) to tell the Merikan women that Bush is human, because right now - women aren't digging Bush at all.

Someone in the media said it right, her book was all kiss, and no tell. Of all surrounding the Bush administration, other than shrub himself, Karen Hughes irritates me the most. I just can't listen to her, I have to mute the television, or turn the channel.

Honestly, I'm amazed at how little I even watch television. I used to have it on during my morning surf, but it seems pointless now, all BS all the time.

7. that's a good line
Charlie Rose laughed in her face at one of her answers. He quoted the "all kiss no tell" line, then asked her if Bush has any flaws at all. She said he's "impatient and demanding," and Rose laughed in her face.

Those that want to believe what they want to believe, and don't care about the consequences. "Bush party loyalists", I call them.

However, it won't work for all, and certainly not most. She was on NPR this morning and the schtick was so blatant it was hard to imagine anyone falling for it. She expressed her disgust at Clarke's testimony, and fawned amusement at the fact that he said bush was more focused on iraq than Al Qaeda since Clarke briefed her on Afghanistan during the transition. Tell me, would that make sense to anyone you know that has graduated from the fifth grade?

Sorry, but normal people don't charge people $2000 to go out to dinner with them.

11. Hughes makes me hurl
I cannot stand that woman. It makes me sick that she wears the face of a Texas woman, giving the rest of us a very bad name. All the Repub winger clones in the Republican Women's groups across the state probably worship at the altar of Karen Huges. Stand by your stupid, stupid man - better yet - get behind him and clean up his messes, honey.

12. I watched and listened to Karen Hughes on Charlie Rose and
it scared the sh*t out of me. She is like the Energizer Bunny on speed. She is like fingers down a blackboard. She is like a night without sleep. She is like a buzzing in your ears. She is like a hangnail. She is like jock itch. She is like someone you cringe at when she takes her seat next to you on a plane. She is a Stepford Presidential Aide. She tired me out (and Charlie too, I think). I want to take a nap...I want to take a pill...I want a drink...I want to take a shower...after listening to her.

My sense is that she will be too much...too blind...too loyal...too tunnel vision for many people...

13. No way. I heard her on NPR this morning and she sounded shrill.
Just her delivery is enough to send people running much less the fact that she didn't have anything substantive to say. SAME RW shit, different bobble head. They are consistent in their lunacy.

he didn't already have.

Some interesting info on the book:

Initial print run: 350,000
Advertising budget: 500.000 (more than one dollar a copy means low faith from an already committed publisher)

Total demand during last 30 days (meaning prepub); this is for Baker and Taylor's warehouses combined: 500--TOTAL
What this means is that retailers have very little faith in it taking off.

While there are heavy pending orders; these will end up remaindered. Mark my words.

Info is gleaned from Baker and Taylor's online distribution database.

Contrast this with Richard Clarke's book:
Initial print run: 200,000 (in it's sixth print run now, I believe, with heavy backorders STILL.

Here's the real kicker--
Advertising budget: $35,000
