Poll question: Should Obama congratulate Hillary if she wins tonight?
One of the biggest stories of the Wisconsin primary election was the fact that the networks cut off Hillary's speech mid-sentence. Hillary neither acknowledged the loss nor offered congratulations to Obama in her speech so Obama, apparently offended, started his speech a few minutes after hers and "railroaded her" right off the air.

Tonight, Obama has a real chance to lose anywhere from one to three states.

If he loses some of tonights contests, should Obama congratulate Clinton on her victories?

21. Well Stated Bluerthanblue!
Very Well Stated, Well Expressed Bluerthanblue!

It would be nice if he congratulated her, and would speak well for him if he does, but there is no requirement that he does...

5. Certainly.
Obama should offer congratulations for any states his opponent happens to win. It would be the classy thing to do, and it can be accomplished in a single line.

just because she thinks she's too good to do it doesn't mean he has to be the same way.

It's not like she would have sewn up the nomination.

What would be the point?

33. If the party doesn't stay united, we'll hand the elections to the Republicans
I'm glad to see that we have consensus in thinking that we must leave difference aside and accept defeat, from both sides.
The nation's situation is too delicate and cannot be handed to people with the wrong experience. John McCain, for example.

She hasn't congratulated him in the last three races, so I'd fully expect her to pout in the corner like some asshat.

Obama was scheduled to speak; Clinton started an hour LATE, Obama was on time, and the networks cut to Obama because, after all, he was the winner.

16. Yes, He Should Congratulate Hillary
That would be the correct thing to do. He would probably do it publicly, unlike Hellcat who congratulates Obama over the phone about his wins.

Oh, and by the way, I'm watching CNN now, and Paul Beglala needs to shut up. What an idiot.

25. "Winning Ohio means winning the GE"?
True, if you're a Republican:

1968: Nixon + Wallace 57%
1972: Nixon 60%
1976: Carter 48.9% Ford 48.7%
1980: Reagan 52%
1984: Reagan 59%
1988: Bush 55%
1992: Clinton 40%, Bush 38%, Perot 21%
1996: Clinton 47% Dole 41% Perot 11%
2000: Bush 50% Gore 46%
2004 Bush 51% Kerry 49%

No Democrat has gotten 50% in Ohio in the past 40 years.

37. A little further research...
The only times a Democrat has gotten 50%+, in the last 66 years, in Ohio were:

1942 FDR over Willkie
1964 LBJ over Goldwater

That's it.
Nixon beat JFK in 1960.

Anyone who thinks Clinton will beat McCain in Ohio is not being realistic.

It would be the gracious thing to do.

We can't keep this feud and petty bitterness going on forever. The simple fact is Obama needs Hillary's voters in the general election.
