Why *'s latest ads are lame
it appears he's trying to take advantage of high gas prices by saying Kerry would raise gas taxes and raise prices even more. However, most people closely associate him and Cheney with the oil industry, and are probably blaming him for the high prices now. This strikes me as a kindergarten-ish way of pointing the blame. Also, most people have been desensitized to such cheap partisan attacks because they know how distorted they can be, such as the anti-Clinton ad in 96 which claims the average family now pays much more in taxes, when the reason why is because they had much more income. Kerry supported some gas tax increases many years ago.

To me this shows desperation.

1. The first Bush ads about 9/11 went down in flames
so since they found out they can't win on the issues, they start attacking.

2. They Are Playing To Their Base

I agree with you that it is a silly Ad.
But, I heard a Media Idiot just praising it to the hilt. He believed every word of it-thought it was sooooo creative ,so brilliant and spoke the truth.

It is an Ad for Kindergarten children and that is the mind set of the Republicans in this country...Their Minds Are Made Up , Don't Confuse Them With Facts.

So sad.

3. Yeah...
One Bush ad is portrayed as an early silent film era genre, ala Charlie Chaplin-esque, with silent actors acting goofy with rag-time piano playing over scenes, with voiceover saying Kerry will raise gas taxes.

It's insulting to voters. It really is. It's proof Republicans hate democracy.

4. I saw a report on NewHour that it was 11 years ago that Kerry supported
the 50 cent gas tax. They explained that it never came up for a vote and he later thought it was a bad idea.

It strikes me as desperate that all of their issues and negative attacks are from Kerry's votes dating back 10 years.

5. Right--Kerry might raise gas prices,
but I don't see Bush lowering them.
