3. I would vote for it
But I hope he picks someone else for VP. Kennedy chose LBJ as VP thinking that he would refuse, I hope Barack does not make the same mistake.

10. The one thing that we all need to
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 10:45 AM by madaboutharry
recognize is that the PA primary is 7 WEEKS away. Having them tear each other apart for almost 2 months only serves to bolster McCain and compromise the Democratic chances in Nov.

I don't know what to think now, it seems that the party is pretty much split between these two.

I think that the "party leaders," especially Howard Dean would probably be able to sell this.

15. Agreed, madaboutharry
I'd go for this, either way, and I've been for Obama. The party seems so evenly split that I can't imagine an outside party for VP who could sway either side and get them to vote when their candidate isn't chosen.

Better than further toward the McBush hell.

23. I didn't ask what you could go for. (I mean I care and all, but I'm talking about winning here)
What I'm pointing out is that the message of each campaign (Dem) already precludes a unity ticket.

When you trample on your own message and send out mixed messages, the other side will take advatage of it and win.

But here's a slogan along your lines.

"Less right wing than the rightwing!"

12. The ugly truth is that a "unity ticket" would unify the
opposition.

I know we shouldn't let the "other side" pick our candidate, but do you think that the country is ready for a woman and a black man on the same ticket? One or the other is going to be tough enough. The rest of the country is not DU.

24. Hillary would have to take back all the mean stuff she has said about Barack
It shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I don't think she really meant what she said.

There is nothing to base it on, as far as I know. ;-)

20. What *IS* Obama's theme again? I really see why's you think he not just another politician...
Seriously. He is just another politician. He gives great speeches, but he's just another pol.

Supposedly his views are slightly more liberal than Hillary's but he REALLY is quite vulnerable in the GE, just as vulnerable as Clinton or more so.

He's just a human, a politician, who lies and has faults.

You may see him as a saint. but he's not. He or Hillary will only be the lessor of two evils. That's the way it always is with elections. Sorry newbies.

But...

I WILL VOTE FOR *ANY* DEMOCRAT over McBush.

I urge we all take that oath.

18. The person with the most pledged delegate will be on top of the ticket...
the other one would have a fairly compelling argument that they should at least be on the ticket. Which means the only way this is possible is an Obama/Clinton ticket which I would support. I have checked with about 5 people I have convinced to vote for obama who had previously voted republican and they would vote for that ticket but they made it clear they would not vote for a Clinton/Obama ticket.

Here strategy to win the nomination will destroy the party. She won't win on pledged delegate but she might be close enough that if MI and FL she might actually have more delegates. I then she needs superdelegates to break away from the guy who won the most pledged delegates (by democratic party rules) to her. That is a recipe for disaster.

Team clinton is pushing cliton/obama ticket in an attempt to coopt the typical democratic base that is supporting Obama. Obama has yet to play this game. Team clinton has been spinning this for a while.

19. No.....under NO circumstances.
I will NEVER vote for her under ANY circumstances. I am done with her and there is NOTHING she can do that will ever make it right with me as to her actions. She is poison to my beloved Democratic Party as far as I am concerned.

22. Here is the right answer > > > >
Obama and Clinton meet and decide to stop campaigning and accept a Clinton/Obama ticket, and she agrees to only serve one term.

Best for everybody.

Obama in 2012.

It will not happen, but it is the most unifying and equitable and strong in the GE solution.

And best for the party going forward.

(If Obama lost to McCain in an 'experience' contest in 2008 there would be no second act for him. If Clinton/Obama loses he's fine for 2012.)
