Hear me out on this!
First, I know that it's not in the best interests of a Bush lookalike to bash the very man who'd supposedly make him more money by staying in the White House.. so the imposter would have to be a pretty moderate-to-liberal person to agree to such a thing. Either that, or we could have someone whose face is similar to Bush's, and then he could be made-up by a make-up artist to look alike. Surely there's some liberal Hollywood talent willing to help his/her country in such an endeavour?
So.. I think Kerry needs to hire a Bush lookalike and have little "sketches" on the campaign trail. Perhaps have the Bush imposter give really bad (i.e., typical) speeches that reflect poorly on the real Bush. And there could be mock debates between Kerry and "Bush", and awckward photo ops, etc.
It'd get some good press coverage; creativity on the campaign trail always does (you can check with Dr Dean on this principle). I can imagine the CNN anchors laughing their asses off at the biweekly antics of fake Dubya..
And the humor would play well with folks.. humor is probably THE most under-used political weapons available. It relaxes the listener, allowing that person to be more apt to agree. And, most of all, good humor is based on the truth of the matter. People laugh because, deep down, they know there's honesty at the base of it.
And of course, there would be the idiotic .5% out there who really think that it's the real George W Bush doing all of these asinine things on the campaign trail. It'd be the real Dubya running scared away from the Shetland ponies. It'd be the real Dubya with the arm floaties in the swimming pool. It'd be the real Dubya wetting his pants at a bad moment during a "debate" with Kerry.
I can imagine the possibilities.. this is so ripe! Should I forward this idea to the campaign?
