Louisiana DUers, what do you think Kerry's chances are?
We've seen democrats sweeping elections for the past two years here so this state looks pretty blue, except for one problem. The Democrats here are basically Republicans without the appeal to the religious right. So, do you think Kerry can win here? Will Blanco even endorse him? Discuss...

1. The issue here is jobs.
I write from New Orleans, and I'm not that keen on kerry. Vote for kerry, Bush is just that bad in Louisiana.

2. Unless Landriue is his vp, it's strongly for Bush
Kennedy was the last northern dem to win it. I think that a strong case can be made for Landrieu as his vp, second to Graham of course, because besides the obvious bump in the vote from people who want to see a woman vp, namely women, but also minorities and others, she would also force Bush to at minimum allocate more to Louisiana.

3. Blanco already endorsed Kerry
Though I don't know if she'll get out there and campaign for him. Kerry has to follow the same path to victory that Landrieu did against Suzanne Haik-Terrell. Win New Orleans area by a solid margin (including keeping it close in Jefferson Parish). Win the rural/industrial parishes along the Mississippi and Red Rivers. Run even in Shreveport, Baton Rouge and slighty ahead in Lake Charles. A Kerry-Edwards ticket or maybe a Kerry-Clark ticket would have a shot. The New Orleans and Baton Rouge parts can be accomplished. Though strong voter drives in N.O., the West Bank of Jefferson and the apartment complex areas of East Jeff need to be undertaken.
