In defense of Keith's Hillary slant
I've been watching MSNBC all season, and recall the moment Keith came to the (correct) realization that Hillary uses GOP like fear tactics in her campaign. After Barack took Iowa handily, Keith actually defended Hillary by stating BO barely won the Dem vote, and kept bringing it up that night. Clearly he was objective at that point...however, fast forward to NH, and Hillary starting talking trash about how the terrorists will attack here with the arrival of a new administration, and we needed a president who could handle that. Keith excoriated her during his show that night, which signified the beginning of his disdain towards her. Keith's show has always pounded the GOP for using the fear factor - he's got regular segments highlighting it called the "Nexus of Politics and Terror"...Hillary has gone down this road again with the 3 AM ad , and Keith is simply being consistent in his viewpoints.

Now the "McCain is better than Barack" and "sit the MI and FL delegates" talking points that Hillary has brought up recently...probably not gonna ameliorate the current mood on Countdown.

On a side note, don't forget how vigorously (and needlessly) Keith sided with Bill Clinton after his Chris Wallace interview in Sept 2006.

1. Keith is totally unbalanced on this fear thing.
He can't see the difference between a campaign comment on preparedness and a President using the entire apparatus of the federal government and the media to trample the constitution. His ego has blocked his brain.

He is also playing for the 18-35 demographic. Being a bullying sexist asshole works for that group.

12. No I didn't.
My friend Doug got me started watching him originally a couple of years back. I enjoyed his trashing Bush but I thought it had mostly to do with KO's ratings hunt. I kept telling my friend that KO would turn into whatever wind would get him more attention and he would turn on Dems at the first opportunity.

Last night my friend called me about ten minutes after 8:00pm in an angry meltdown - he was screaming with disgust KO for being such a "misogynist asshole pig". He said much worse but I won't repeat it here. He could not be calmed but at least he saved his tv by calling me.

6. Note to Hillary, McCain and Bush
the only thing you have to fear, is fear itself

FDR

And that is the point KO has been making for the last few years over the fear factor.

Oh and if Obama starts using the fear factor too, I KNOW I can expect KO to slam him too.

It is amazing how Partisans (And that goes for Obamanites as well) are blinded by their partisanship

What they can clearly see in the other side, they cannot see in their own candidate

By the way, guess again about the demographic

15. With KO it is more about what he does not cover -
he never does any of the negative news on Obama. In addition, he provides the defense as if he rips and reads straight from David Axelrod. It is truly amazing. He will turn.

10. You're completely right
There is no comparing shoplifting to grand larceny.
No comparing murder to genocide.

After all, as long as you're less evil than the next guy, it's all okay. Why doesn't everybody see that?

28. Yeah, you're right that it isn't really in the same league
Anytime though you start feeling similar to anything Bush, it is going to unnerve. It is a fear based advertisement at the end of the day.

22. Why is he sexist? Because he doesn't like Hillary?
And if she's willing to use fear as a campaign tactic, who's to say she won't use in a Clinton administration for one reason or another.

As Hillary might say: Let's get real.

25. He was initially very critical of Obama
He and Craig Crawford used to be very critical of Obama. He now disagrees with her tactics which is justified by her actions.

If her camp didn't provide the material Olberman would have nothing to report.
