The whole 'Monster' thing is an example of the way partisan staff and supporters take the slightest opportunity to slam the other side. A good friend suggests that we should require the staff of the two campaigns to bunk and eat together. Then maybe everyone would notice that the other side is not composed of evil people, just people with whom they may not agree.
Sam Powers is a brilliant and talented thinker; I trust that after th dust settles she'll find her way back onto someone's staff. It would be a pretty serious loss if she didn't.
4. Samantha Power didn't "take the slightest opportunity to slam the other side."
She was in the middle of a book interview, she got a phone call with bad news about Ohio, and then the "monster" insult slipped out and she immediately indicated that she didn't want it printed.
I know what Powers said. I know how it got played. I think the way it was played was a 'slightest opportunity'. If everybody would try to find a way to work with each other instead of ways to eviscerate each other things might work better overall.
