Poll question: Mississippi is an Open Primary....

That should give Obama a run for his money if the Republicans continue to support Clinton in an attempt to damage the party and candidates by sending it to the convention, in a state he is expected to win?

Or will Republicans decide that Clinton could actually be on the ticket, and possibly be the next president, a thought they shun like the devil?


How will the pubs vote next Tuesday?

1. I *thought* they had to be registered voters by 2/22 though.
I think that will change the mix a bit though.

Not sure exactly. It is an OPEN Primary. I thought that meant any voter could vote for any candidate?

5. It means that they have to choose the ballot when they arrive at the polls.
There are other state elections on both tickets.

When you arrive at the polls, you sign in, and then you are asked whether you want a Democratic or Republican ticket.

13. So in other words if you choose the Dem ticket you're not going to be able
to vote pub for the county chair for example.

15. Yeah.
Only thing is, most Republicans in Mississippi have historically voted on the Dem ticket, because, as red as Mississippi is, most state candidates run as Democrats.

If Republicans vote in the Democratic primary, that's nothing shocking. It's been going on for ages here.

4. If you're registered to vote here, you can vote.
You don't have to re-register before every election.

And we don't register by party. We have open primaries.

While I hope that there will be some Republicans that vote democratic in November... The fact that Rush was able to get many Republicans to vote Clinton in Texas to try to keep this race going.. well I just don't see why they would not in Mississippi.

So with that and other factors I do not think it will be a blowout in that state. Obama will likely win however.

7. Y'all give Rush entirely too much credit.
In actuality, Obama takes more Republican votes than Hillary does. Alabama is the only state in which Clinton has fared better among Republicans than Obama.

they are eager to embrace his new politics of hope and change.

When they vote for Clinton, it's because they hope to keep Obama from getting the nomination and thus deprive America of his new politics of hope and change.

Any phenomenon that benefits Obama is, by definition, good, since he himself is very, very good. Likewise, any phenomenon that benefits Clinton is, by definition, evil, since she herself is very, very evil.

That's what I learned on DU, at least.
