10. "wins" that don't count for much
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 02:30 PM by wicasa
Five of those states she "won" gave her no net benefit in delegates, either because they violated the rules, or because the margins were so small, that given the quirks of how they were set up, she had no gain, those five states being:

Michigan
Florida
Nevada (where Obama actually had a net delegate gain of one)
New Hampshire (from the stand point of delegates, a tie)
Texas (where she actually stands to have a net loss if they ever complete counting the caucus results).

Similarly, Obama "won" Missouri, but because his margin was so small, and because of the quirks of the system, from the standpoint of delegates it was a tie.

12. I am in favor of breaking away
As a Hillary supporter I'd rather be in a country with those states than the states Obama has.

Wonder if any Obama supporters would rather live in Obama's country? Honest question there.

14. I'm in Obama's country - the USA.
Hillary is the one dissing states that dared to support her opponent.

I don't see Obama acting like a spoiled brat.

16. Florida and Michigan show Obama is a spoiled brat
But it doesn't change the fact that Hillary has the "better" states. So keep trying.

20. Polls I have seen indicate to me that if there is a real vote
in Michigan, that Hillary won't be able to win that one either.

Florida? OK, if there's a real vote there she would win it if the vote were held today.
In another month? Who knows?

25. I moved from Utah back to NY over the holidays. I actually miss Utah....
it was beautiful there. SLC has a large liberal counter culture, the question is - is the Democratic party going to embrace it or ignore it?

What do you consider large? Please give evidence to state how large this "counter culture" is.

And I noticed you still moved to the hypothetical Hillary country. :)

29. I moved because I didn't have a choice, my job moves me around quite often....
in the past five years I've lived in NY, then NJ, then PA, then UT, and back NY.

How big is it? Well it's big enough right now to have one of their four districts to elect a Democrat to the House, big enough to elect a Democratic mayor in SLC(although I will admit he's pretty centerist, but he has to be).

Right now there is a danger to losing that district to Republicans, but not because of the size of Democrats. The governor wants to redraw district lines to push the borders to include a small community of very conservative Mormons. It would be just enough to lose that seat.

Now the DNC has a choice. It can either go to Utah and invest time and resources to grow the Democrat base, or it can ignore it and allow the repugs to swallow up that district and shut out Democrats.

This is the problem with the 17 state strategy. It ignores states that are red with blue pockets. Instead of building on that blue pocket, they decide to ignore and grow already blue states. This is why repugs always kick our ass. For the first time since the Clinton years, we have a very slim lead in the House and Senate, and no one wants to think long term on how to grow that majority.

This time, because of national and world events that play well with out message, we will probably grow that majority in this election cycle. However, if we do not work in those areas, that majority will be short lived.

33. Sam Seder blasting Hillary's tactics today on Air America
Today, Sam Seder on his Air America show was blasting Hillary's tactics. It called it a "scorched earth" policy that is trying to force people into a decision of McCain or her, with Obama being unqualified to be president.

Then a caller asked a good question. When Obama's advisor, Samantha Powers, made an unkind remark about Hillary, she quit and Obama apologized. That occurred even though she intended the remark to be off the record and even though she is probably a volunteer.

Then Wolfsen, who is one of Clinton's top staff-people and who made several hundred thousand dollars from her campaign in January says that Obama is like Ken Starr because he asked her to release her tax returns. The Clinton campaign stands by those remarks, and Wolfsen still has his top job.
