Announcing Democracy for America’s Partnership with America Votes
Today, less than seven months from the most important election of my lifetime, Democracy for America is taking a bold new step. We are forging a partnership with 29 of the largest grassroots organizations in the country by joining a new coalition called America Votes.
http://www.americavotes.org/

While America Votes may not be a name familiar to many of you, the groups that comprise their alliance will be well-known to almost any progressive activist – from Sierra Club and Planned Parenthood to the AFL-CIO and the MoveOn.org Voter Fund. For a full list, see the America Votes website. America Votes is a national coalition that is changing the landscape of electoral politics in our country by recruiting, educating, registering, and mobilizing voters in unprecedented numbers.

For the first time, these organizations are cooperating in their field and media plans, sharing critical resources and information, and breaking new ground in the most creative shoe-leather voter contact I have ever seen. We come to the America Votes table eager to work with all of its organizations to reduce duplication of efforts, build a targeted election strategy, and fill in any gaps that may exist in bringing new voters into the process. The goal is simple: MAKE ELECTION 2004 COUNT.

Democracy for America is proud to stand side-by-side with the other America Votes partners. Together, they represent more than 20 million Americans. Democracy for America comes into this coalition with all of you, our grassroots. With your help we will make the difference in this year’s election and beyond.

Roy Neel
