1. laughing as Rome was burning down

I just don't know. I expected a lot tougher questions, and I sure didn't get them -- it sure didn't seem like a performance that would hurt him, for sure.

6. President "C Student " Strikes again.
Bush answered questions he made up himself, not questions that the reporters asked.

Again and again, as a teacher, that's what my C students did. In fact, that's one big difference I saw between my A/B and C/D students.

I tried it myself, in desperation, a few times in grad school when I was caught flat-footed. I figured it was better to answer something than leave it blank. They didn't let me get away with that in graduate school. My professors didn't buy it, and I didn't try it too many times. Will the American people let our "C student" president get away with it????

When he exited the room, I wonder if his handlers patted him on the back and told him what a good job he did or if they told him that he made a C--again.

4. up 5%

They give him credit for speaking in fairly complete sentences, shaving well, and using polysyllabic words. Hey, he even dares to talk to smart people!

But it's wierd. These little spikes of renewed support W gets himself have a way of dropping off so sharply that he probably does himself more harm than good with them.

The more things change, the more they remain insane. (Dilbert)

5. Up by five
While, personally I thought his performance in this--he even admitted it--scripted--press conference was not only pitiful, I have serious concerns for his mental stability.

I base this on my rather non-political husband who thought Bush did a good job and displayed a great deal of determination and resolve. "You just hate Bush." he told me.

I think that many people who haven't been terribly engaged on the issues will probably see the media clips and decide that Our Leader is being strong and determined and not devious and stubborn.

12. Down by 0-5% but not because of appearance, but
Italiam soldier was killed and the rest of those captured are going to be killed if Italy doesn't pull out it's 20,000 troops that are helping America, and the stupid move of Bush siding with Israel on occupying the West Bank.

Polls are usually released several days to a week after an event and you won't be able to tell if he's down because of his "performance" or the rest of this stuff.

But he'll be DOWN!

13. If Bush doesn't drop his pants and crap all over the floor,
he's praised for doing a great job.

People don't expect much of this guy, so if he doesn't make a total ass of himself, they praise him. I actually got into an argument with someone about Bush in which I wound up screaming, "Is it wrong to expect the best of one's President?!?"
