Boston Globe, John Kerry, and Cayman Islands...
so what's up with that...some repugs are posting this at another site and I can't find anything on it except for the link they posted...

Check out the documents

(snip)
Documents obtained by the Globe detail John Kerry's 1983 investment of between $25,000 and $30,000 in offshore companies registered in the Cayman Islands. The document below, signed by Kerry, shows his pledge to purchase 2,470 shares of Peabody Commodities Trading Corp. through Sytel Traders, registered in the Caymans.

Now I know this is the Boston Globe and it's a right-wing piece of toilet paper...but I can't find a thing on this except that site...which tells me that it's a hoax or they are really special people to come accross this...any thoughts...?

Any links...?

2. Globe a 'right wing piece of toilet paper'?
That distinction (at least in Eastern Massachusetts) used to be reserved for the Boston Herald, and while I wasn't very pleased with the Globe's coverage of Dean it was no worse than that in the Washington Post and NYT (the latter of which happens to own the Globe).

I'm not favorably impressed with anymainstream media these days, but my guess would be that the Globe is still on the relative left-hand side of the media fence.

4. I don't see a big problem
it was 21 years ago...

but what I'm saying is...the rightwingers had the audacity to spread a doctored photo around the internet...it wouldn't surprise me if this a fabrication...but I can't find anything on it...saying it's true or false...it's weird...

9. no...not worried...
just figured the best places to discuss it were here and over in regular GD...whichever one took off I would ask the mods to lock the other...things move faster in the regular GD forum so I thought I would do it here also...

8. Kerry was uncomfortable with the advice his money manager
gave him on this investment and he got out of it. It was legal, but, Kerry thought it didn't feel ethical, so he took the loss.

The up side is that Kerry became more aware of how money DOES get hidden and transferred covertly and it propelled him in his discovery of BCCI and IranContra.

I'm sure you must be as proud as I am that our nominee is the one man who has exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in modern history.

10. Thank you...
I got that from another article but I wasn't sure about that...so he took a loss by getting out of it because he felt it was to unethical...?

So he didn't gain anything right...just took a loss...?

12. He gained the knowledge of existing covert money moving.
And changed history by exposing the dirty dealings of Reagan and Bush in BCCI and IranContra.

Wouldn't you say that this country gained? History?

I found it by going to altavista and searching for "Kerry" and "Cayman". I know, it was a moment of inspiration

It was the third item on the list

15. Yep
You see people use the Caymans as a tax dodge. It ain't necessarily illegal mind you but the Caymans are a haven for laundered money and other islands are data havens for illegal sites and gambling sites as well.

Kerry had the good moral sense to say this shit does not feel right and we got out of it.
