Does anyone know how much money Kerry has raised?
or the latest for the *.

This is my educated guess. * has raised $180 million and will probably end up raising close to $200 million. He has spent $40+ on get out the vote and voter registration and probably $50 million on ads. He will have about $110 million to spend.

I expect Kerry will raise $100 million. My guestimate is that he has raised about $50 to $60 million so far. A guess is that he has spent about $10 million and will have about $90 million more to spend.

Is this way too optimistic?

1. I heard Kerry had raised $80 million.
I don't know how much of that is still in the bank. His trip to Massachusetts just got him another 4 mil.

4. Was that after the he was the presumptive nominee
That's what I was referring to. If he has raised $80 million, so far, that's fantastic.

2. Numbers
As of march 20th according to opensecrets.org

Raised
Kerry: $41,430,491
Bush: $158,803,866

Spent
Kerry: $38,911,805
Bush: $48,555,995

On Hand:
Kerry: $2,518,686
Bush: $108,485,107

These numbers are not good. This said, Kerry has raised a ton of $$$ just recently so the numbers are probably much different than are represented here.

It's surprising to me just how much Bush has already spent though.

5. Thanks
I think Kerry has raised much more since those numbers came out. I haven't found good, solid numbers. More conjecture like I posted.

6. If Bush looks weak and Kerry strong the money will come to JFK
Kerry will start gaining contributions from typical Bush donors (in the corporate world) that will want to curry favor with him if it looks like he might or probably will get elected.

When Clinton looked strong, the Democrats were able to nearly keep up with Republicans in fundraising during the mid-1990's and it can be done again, even under McCain-Feingold.

Also, looks like we're lucky to have a candidate who declined matching funds and therefore is not limited in his spending. Kerry's looking like a genius for doing that.

7. 6.5 million in NY so far...
that's a record one-day haul for any candidate ever. And they're hoping for another 2.5 million today for a total of 9 million in ONE WEEK!

8. $15 million this week alone
Acording to a story on Yahoo he has raised $15 million this week alone.
.
NEW YORK - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) told well-heeled party donors on Thursday he plans to launch an advertising campaign next week that is designed to define him for voters largely unaware of him.

"A lot of people don't really know who I am," Kerry said at a breakfast where he raised $2.5 million. "The level of communication we need to establish here is enormous."

</b>Kerry has raised nearly $15 million this week. While he lags far behind the nearly $200 million President Bush (news - web sites) has raised, the Massachusetts senator said he has managed to avoid allowing the president to use that financial edge to define him.
