Kerry should announce regular press conferences
He should come out during his campaign and promise bi-monthly (or whatever) press conferences to put him in contrast with the Chimp.

Secrecy is one of chimpy's worst traits and it pisses a lot of people off. Kerry should capitalize on that and promise more open government.

1. he's already pledged to do that when Prez; but yeah he could start now
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 07:24 PM by codegreen
if that's what you're suggesting...
also, renewing that pledge would be good.
i'm just pointing out he's already made it... can't source it, though i know i saw him say it

4. A pledge shouldn't be necessary.
Presidents typically have press conferences. Only the Shrub has turned it into some kind of Halley's Comet once-in-a-lifetime event. Even Nixon and Reagan met with the press more than this guy.

2. That is a GREAT idea. The contrast will be so stark.
And the "news media" would have to cover them.

3. One of the best ways to convince people you ought to be President
is by acting like a President.

I do think he ought to hold press conferences. I'm just not sure they could be bi-monthly. And I'm not sure the press would cover it the way they cover the Bush "press conferences."

6. GREAT idea. I know he said he'd do it once a month as prez
but, doing twice a month now would be a perfect contrast to the dictatortot.

Great minds think alike heh heh.

I meant every other month (at minimum) whether we need it or not :)

11. Commitment to them after election=good, not now!
It's a great idea to commit to holding regular Press Conferences after the election, but not before. Remember, Bush can pre-empt with his in prime time to command a large audience wether they want to watch or not), a candidate cannot! It would just look like a failed effort right now.

12. No he shouldn't
Kerry should just shut up at the moment -- Bush is destroying himself and Kerry shouldn't let this campaign turn into a referendum on anyone but Bush. That doesn't mean I don't think Kerry has a lot to say, but at this point in 1960, John Kennedy was saying nothing. John Kerry should follow Kennedy's lead here. When your opponent is burning, let him burn.
