The football game that will decide the 2004 Presidential election:
The NFL schedule came out today:

October 31, 2004: Washington Redskins v. Green Bay Packers
1:00pm - FedEx Field, Landover, MD

Since the Boston Braves changed their name to the Redskins in 1933, the incumbent party's fortunes have been determined by the Redskins' last home game before Election Day:

October 30, 2000: Skins lose a heartbreaker to the Titans 27-21 on Monday Night Football. Al Gore loses a heartbreaker the next week - well, more like the next month, but you get the point.

October 27, 1996: Skins beat the Colts easily, 31-16. Clinton wins re-election easily

November 1, 1992: The heavily favored Skins lose to the Giants 24-7, the heavily favored Bush loses.

November 6, 1988: Skins beat the Saints 27-24, Bush wins two days later

November 5, 1984: Skins beat the Falcons 27-14 on MNF, Reagan wins reelection the next day.

November 2, 1980: Skins lose to the Vikings 39-14, Carter loses.

October 31, 1976: Skins lose to the Cowboys 20-7, Ford loses.

October 22, 1972: Skins beat the Cowboys 24-20, Nixon wins.

October 27, 1968: Skins lose to the Giants 13-10, Humphrey loses.

October 25, 1964: Skins beat the Bears 27-20, Johnson wins.

October 30, 1960: Skins lose to the Browns 31-10, Nixon loses.

October 21, 1956: Skins beat the Browns 20-9, Eisenhower wins.

November 2, 1952: Skins lose to the Steelers 24-23, Stevenson loses.

October 31, 1948: Skins beat the Yanks 59-21, Truman wins.

November 5, 1944: Skins beat the Rams 14-10, Roosevelt wins.

November 3, 1940: Skins beat the Steelers 37-10, Roosevelt wins.

November 1, 1936: Skins beat the Cardinals 13-10, Roosevelt wins.

So on October 31, 2004, root for the visiting team. :tinfoilhat:

2. I'll never root against the Redskins.
I'm sorry, they have been my team since I was like 5 years old.

Plus, Gibbs is back! I can't root against Gibbs, are you crazy?

3. This is one time you may want to consider it..
Our country's future is at stake. I thought that was BS too about the connection between the Redskins and a presidential election:

Until 2000.

6. haha, you too?
I'm a bears fan, but a huge Lynch fan, so it pains me to see him gone from the bucs secondary.

7. John Lynch is a Class Act and I'm Sorry Too.
Favorite players are Ronde Barber and Joe Jurevicius though. For what they did in the Philly game to get the Bucs to the Big Dance.

In Chuckie, we trust!
