We Need Unity In Our Party
Look, we fight like cats and dogs here-people who have long liked and respected each other now find ourselves calling each other names and questioning each other's commitment to our own party. We are ALL democrats here, if we weren't we wouldn't be on a board called DEMOCRATIC Underground. This place was founded after the 2000 stolen election as a place we could all come to and tell our stories and air our disgust and grievances with the republicans and what they were doing to this country. I joined in early 2001 as Oustemnow and was one of the over 90,000 disenfranchised Florida voters. If what it's going to take is for a joint ticket of Obama/Clinton then I say we should do it. There really is a very slim chance it will be the other way around looking at the numbers. We should unite the party and Obama and Hillary should broker a deal for the joint ticket.

3.  Good one. LOL
That's kind of like republicans screwing us over for 8 years and then calling for happy times now that we might be in power. LOL

4. You see this is what I'm talking about
this crap needs to stop. I have said all along I am a democrat first and foremost and would vote for either Clinton or Obama. So what, you're saying I'm not being sincere with my thread? I think it's people like you who have helped turn this board into what is has become with your constant disparaging of people-EVERY person who doesn't agree with you. You think people who have been here as long as some of us have been are going to sit back and let people like you call us stupid? Where were YOU when Wellstone's plane went down? Where were YOU when this war was being voted on? Where were YOU when the election was stolen? I was right here....

7. Practice What You Preach Pal.
And who gives a fuck how long you've been here under two different names. I most certainly don't. But before you pitch a call for unity, maybe you should practice what you fucking preach first, show that you have some sincerity, and then make the fuckin unity post. But coming from you? At this time? Yeah, it makes me kinda laugh. Know what makes me laugh even more? The asinine notion that I'm part of what's brought this board down. What utter bullshit. I'm one of the only ones in GDP that can actually still think for myself. I'm fighting a losing battle, but what I'm doing is taking on all the closed minded, knee jerking, ignorant, reactionary, over dramatic, childish and out of their minds zealots. They're the ones who have ruined the discourse, and all I'm doing is the best I can in not letting them get away with their bullshit. You don't like it? Too bad so sad. Get over it. The fact is, I respond with the tone in which I'm presented. If someone disagrees with me with sincerity and maturity, a calm, rational and thoughtful discussion ensues. But when someone responds with their childish attacks, knee jerk ignorance, combative tone, snarky stupidity, or empty rhetoric, I'm gonna stand in their face and give it right back.

You want to change the tone of the board? How bout you start with yourself. Prove yourself to us first, that you're sincere in your words. You've been every single bit as guilty as anyone else and to hear calls for unity from you can't be perceived as anything else but hilarious at this time. Show us you mean what you say first. Then maybe I'll give a call for unity coming from you even a modicum of serious thought.

11. Nice Tantrum. But The Reality Is, I'm Every Bit A Part Of This Board As You Are.
I'm every single bit as much as a democrat as you are. I just simply have been able to maintain an open mind and objective thought process throughout all this. And yeah, I can tell from the tone of your replies that you're realllllllly ready for unity. Nice try pal.

14. so YOU'VE been open-minded and objective?
all you have done is sit at you computer that has a high horse for a chair in front of it telling every single person who disagrees with you how stupid they are-get over yourself please. I still wonder where you were when the election was being stolen in 2000, when there were protests and DUers were getting their heads smashed in, when we had to fight the likes of ignorance from the Rush Limbaughs and Sean Hannity who were saying it was a great thing when Paul Wellstone died. Where were you then? You only came here for one thing-to try and sell the board on Hillary Clinton-nice try pal

15. Yes, I Have Been.
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 09:40 AM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
If you had been, you'd be able to see quite readily how ridiculous your accusation is that I treat people who disagree with me that way. I don't. Who I treat that way, are taunting flamebaiters who come at me with ignorance and aggression, who have no real desire for conversation, and who are acting like children. I will also confront people in such ways who post deceitful, overly dramatic, illogical, unfair, disgusting or irrational garbage. When someone comes at me with sincerity, when someone disagrees with me appropriately, I treat them in a perfectly fine manner. If you weren't the EXACT type of poster you reference and HAD an open mind, you'd be able to recognize that in a heartbeat.

Furthermore, the fact that you think that you're better than ANYBODY ELSE merely because you found this board before them, is one of the most ignorant things I've seen. Talk about being on a false high horse. Holy cow.

And on edit: Maybe you should ask the mods the scoresheet as to how many replies of yours to me have been deleted, as opposed to my replies to you. Maybe that'll put things in perspective for ya a bit more.

I have a good idea-I think I'm just going to put you on ignore now because I refuse to try and reason with people who are "so high above me intellectually"-you should do the same with me-I'm done with you dude

18. What Part Of My Previous Post Was That Hard For You To Grasp?
If something is stupid, then it's stupid. That's not of my doing, it's of the violators doing. You continue to push the ignorant assertion that I do so to anyone who disagrees with me, yet that is patently false. And hey, are you gonna put me on ignore under your Oustemnow name too? Don't want you to forget. :hi:

2. I can't speak for everybody else
But I believe that once we have a definite nominee and that nomination isn't tainted with cheating or fraud then you will see a united party. I myself will not have any problem with, have a bad taste in my mouth or think "this is all we got" supporting Hillary is she is our candidate.

5. Hey, give SoFlaJet a break. I've been guilty of slinging the mud but will definitely try to be civil
and in the end I'll be voting for the democratic candidate. Nothing is gained by beating each other up. Does anyone think that posting bs on this board really changes any opinions? No.

6. exactly elixir
I'm tired of the fighting that as you said changes NO one's minds. We have to remember that we are ball democrats and we really NEED the WH back-there has been a lot of damage done by a decade of republican shenanigans. We NEED health care we NEED the constitution to matter again like it used to, what we don't need is to be telling each other to fuck off any more. I'm proud that I've been here since early 2001-I love this board and am sick of what I have seen happen to it since the end of November.

9. Look, I've been just just as guilty as everyone else,
every person that has a name on ignore is guilty-I have two. The difference is I'm not perched atop my high horse saying YOU people are all guilty and I'M the innocent one here, or that only I can be the one who can say this with impunity-I'm not. This isn't about us here at DU either, this is about the democratic party and what is in it's best interest at this point-not us here. In the end all of us will benefit from a coming together of both sides.

10. Hillary people need to get one thing straight!
Obama people will never go for a ticket with Hillary. She does not in any way equal the philosophy that we are trying to bring back to our nation. No effing way! You may as well say that Obama should share a ticket with GW. It will not happen.

did you stop using Oustemnow? Why did you create a new name in 2004 when you were still using Oustemnow regularly? Can you explain yourself?

19. I have decided I will never vote for Obama!
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 09:57 AM by MS Liberal
I am a strong Hillary supporter and he disrespects her all the time.

It is my opinion that he is just another inexperience man like George Bush who will take care of his friends and fuck over the country. The Democratic Party looks like it will go down the same road the republicans did in 2000; put all our faith in someone who does not have a record of failures or achievements.

Obama has zero military experience and has not attempted to get any since he came to the senate. The thing that gets me most is he points to Afghanistan as to where we should be concentrating the war on terror but as the chairman of the subcommittee responsible for formulating policy on NATO and Afghanistan, he has not done a damn thing and has been AWOL. In my opinion this disqualifies him from being President.

I am a retired Army veteran with a son in Iraq. I do not support the war in Iraq but I do support the war in Afghanistan. Obama is shortsighted and I see George W. Bush written all over him. I understand that by not voting for Obama in the general election, if he gets the nomination, it is giving my vote to McCain even though I will not vote for McCain.

This is a sad time for Black America, we are voting at a 90 percent rate for a man in large part just because is black. Well this is one black woman who will not sell out her principals to support an unqualified black man. Supporting Barrack Obama is not what Dr. King died for. He would want Black America to decide based on qualifications, not skin color.

For those who disagree, it is your right. Only time will tell which of us is correct. Till then....

And if you're so concerned about what's democratic, do you have issue with the undemocratic caucuses? Just curious.
