F the polls! Kerry will have a 25 point lead after his acceptance speech
When Kerry has a national stage and everyone sees what a damned intelligent and inspirational man he is, he will lead Bush 60 to 35 and Bush will never get closer than 10 points afterwards.
F these polls. They are meaningless.
Kerry will DEMOLISH Bush.
The nightmare will end.

Watched and listened to Kerry, this week, at The 2004 ASNE (American Society of Newspaper Editors) Convention. He was at his best and the members witnessed his stark contrast to * .:hi:

3. No doubt he will get a bump from the convention.
That's to be expected. But that means Junior will get one as well. And given the timing of the Pukes' convention/9-11 hypefest, not to mention their control of the media, if Kerry did pull off a 25 point lead, you can bet they will guarantee 35 points minimum for the Idiot Son of an Asshole.

These polls are complete and utter bullshit. Until the conventions and the debates, they're based on nothing, and with the corrupted media, even in September they'll probably be suspect.

Kerry should be more worried about substance than empty numbers.

6. Maybe Bushie* won't get a bump.
I got a feeling that their convention will be a disaster. NYC isn't happy with him. New Yorkers aren't silent retirng folk. They will be appealing to their base at the convention and that won't appeal to the middle they need. It could backfire big time.

4. The key words here are "national stage"
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 11:00 PM by rocknation
which the Dems haven't had since the primaries, and will not have again unless Kerry says something sucidically stupid. The mainstream media is still Georgie's greatest asset, and they are simply not going to get behind Kerry no matter what he says. Bush has reportedly spent half his campaign money and is out front in only two polls I've seen, once of which is CNN's, enough said! So let's count our blessings, sit back, pass the popcorn and join Kerry in watching the Bush Regime Implosion Show!

5. Has he enlisted a designated pinch speaker?
I'm looking forward to the debates, a 6 foot 4 Kerry towering over Bush in stature and substance.

That acceptance speech is another matter. I cringe at the certainty of longwinded bland policy specifics, stepping over his applause lines, forced smiles, inevitable repetition of certain themes followed by garbage like "and that's what I'll do as president of the United States."

I was certain Kerry would improve his speeches and speaking style after cinching the nomination. Many on DU believed as I did, he would seek out the best speech coach and take advantage. There has been absolutely no evidence of that and I'm more than a bit concerned.

he always has in the clutch.

I understand your apprehension, but he will absolutely not miss such a critical opportunity to hit a grand slam.

21. YES, indeed.

I will just redirect all of you to the 1st Victory Speech in Iowa.
It was nothing but a Boulder rolling down hill from then on.

When it counted the MOST, John Kerry delievered the most decisive and
critical blow to not just the competition in his primary, but a STRAIGHT SHOT to Shrub.

If you have tape of that day, watch it again, and you will see this guy doesn't win elections because he is just a policy wonk, but because when he knows ALOT of people are watching, he shines the most.

Nuff said, When you guys see Kerry-Clark wipe the floor with the Rethugs, you will finally be able to relax.

7. IMO, the only considerable advantage the Convention will bring...
...for Kerry, is when he chooses his running mate. Of course, assuming he chooses wisely. He'll definitely receive a bump due to the coverage, but like said above, the blatant taking advantage of the 9/11 tragedy, in choosing NY for the RNC convention, will predictably have it's intended effect on a few.

Now, the debates are where we really shouldbe able to finish the * campaign. Of course, I emphasize "should," since the same "leave the poor man alone" sympathetic reaction to last week's stutterfest, seems to have worked in his favor, so who knows how it will go?

10. These Polls Are OBVIOUSLY Pipe Dreams od Crackhead bu$h
I heard on NPR this morning that with all the deaths, "Coalition" leaving Iraq, 9-11 Hearing, etc. etc. etc. . . bu$h's poll numbers have gone up. Thre was NO explanation, or even repuklican spin on this. These numbers MAKE NO SENSE! Call it wishful thinking (It's not), but these poll numbers look like a desparate attempt to brainwahs because they bu$h is going down, probably long before November.

16. The Demo convention is in July.
Then the Olympics are in August. Then there's the GOP convention, and then there's the 9/11 anniversary.

You think in November anyone is going to remember one single thing about the Democratic convention?

The calendar screws us this year.

17. A lot of this is media spotlight
Kerry is moving out of the spotlight right now, and Bush is in it so the media attentions causes a simple spike in Bush's polling. It is early in the campaign and BUsh has already exhasted every "this guy is a anti - tax cut anti-defense" attacks and there are only som many times they can claim Kerry votes against tax cuts 350 times in his career, while BUsh has the next six months for all kinds of likely crap to occur for Kerry to hammer at during the last few weeks of the election, spend ehat he is raising like mad,and get in the public eye and boost in the polls in the last month of the election.

24. Both conventions will amount to little "bounce"
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 01:01 AM by tritsofme
for either candidate.

I think Kerry got his convention bounce when he made his historically early clinch on the nomination.

The thing I see giving him a bounce is VP selection.

My personal view that is that the Bush campaign is just trying to get everyone disinterested in the election and do whatever they can ensure low voter turnout. They hope by the time the acceptance speeches come around people will be bored to death with the then already 5 month long general election.

Remember, low turnout favors republicans.

But also remember none of the polls are going show either candidate pulling away more than 5-10%, this will be a close election. And national polling means precious little when the election centers on a handful of states.
