I could post more but I hope you get the point...

Your vote is important this November, pick wrong and you could be contributing to a lot more of this.

2. Well...
Even as Dean said, we cant pull out now.

I dont believe that Bush intends to bring the troops back anytime soon and if he does, that will be a terrible mistake, leaving Iraq now and itll become a breeding ground for terrorists.\

My point was though... who do you think is more likely to start more wars in the future? Bush or Kerry. And for that matter, I dont think Kerry would have started this mess in Iraq to begin with (yes he did vote for it, but that was under the assumption that what Bush had said about Iraq was true), and even if he did, he surely would have done a better job of it.

3. What's important to remember is that
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 12:17 AM by noahmijo
Kerry voted for the use of force AS A LAST RESORT.

Once again AS A LAST RESORT

He voted for Bush to seek war ONLY with UN backing and if it was A LAST RESORT.

I'm getting tired of hearing "oh but remember Kerry voted for this war" from both right AND the left.

Our first mission is to get rid of the maniac in the WH. Later on we'll work on forming a comprehensive policies that embody both the ideas of Democrats and Greens alike, but for this period of time we gotta stick together and work towards removing Bush.

Quite frankly I long for the day where the "battle" will be between Greens and Dems, and the radical RW are phased out.

Every so often I hear a Green pop up and threaten to vote for Nadar or someone other than Kerry or Bush.

I understand you wish to go with your principles I understand Kerry is not as far left as you'd like him to be.

A 3rd party has no chance to win this election and understand that a vote for anyone other than Kerry is a vote for Bush. Browsing some Conservative sites they are actually encouraging conservatives to pretend to be Greenies and advise others to vote Green or for Nadar in order to throw the balance of the majority vote to Bush and make that small but impactful Green vote a vote for more Bush NOT for a more progressive agenda.

5. And to clarify
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 12:29 AM by noahmijo
Last resort meaning if it was proof that Saddam WAS a threat and was refusing to back down.

I think even the most peaceful type will fight when directly threatened.

Well I'm not a Green obviously but I do sympathize with many Green ideas and really hope and pray that someday we work out our differences and together take our country back. I'd call that scenario virtually win-win in that maybe my side or the green side may not have everything our way, but at least we'd be content and overall along the same lines.

6. I love Kerry but he doesn't get away scott free on the IWR
Somebody with that much experience in politics should know better than to trust the Bush administration. While I think he had legitimate reasons for voting for the IWR I don't think the "last resort" excuse is one of them. But hey, if it gets him elected then by all means go for it.

11. Kerry voted to support the office of President.
Let's say Kerry is elected in November. Intelligence advises him that some group/state has a nuclear device and are planning on lighting it off in a major American city. If Kerry goes to Congress to get authorization to deal with the problem, would you be pissed if the Republicans claimed "wag the dog" and voted not to give him approval?

What Bush did was just the opposite, he went to Congress fully looking to exploit war with Iraq to further his political/economic agenda. He violated the trust that Congress gave him and did not use force as a last resort. Bush lied to Congress, he lied to the UN, he lied to the world. There was no compelling reason to invade and now he has put us in a quagmire of his making.

Congress did not push him into this war. They gave him the tools to defend America's interests if the facts warrented it. They didn't and he invaded anyway....he did it for selfish reasons and has created a precedent for Congress to mistrust the intentions of future Presidents. That is real tradegy in this fiasco.

its like this, if you buy a house from someone who had dogs that weren't housebroken you have to clean up the shit. Kerry just has to clean up the "shit". Believe me, theres gonna be alot to clean up.

9. I think you're wrong, kiddo.
Have you read the paper lately? Kerry wants to add troops, full speed ahead.
The only difference with Bush is that Kerry will try harder to get the UN to put a fig leaf over our occupation.

We will still control the oil, we will still be privatizing the infrastructure to benefit Halliburton and Bechtel, and we will still be pulling the strings of a puppet government.

If you think THAT will result in peace in Iraq, then go ahead and vote Kerry.

Kerry or Bush + Iraq = :nuke:

10. Indeed
If this continues because Bush wins it won't be my fault because I voted for Kerry. However, I will be there to stick my finger in people's faces with a big fat "I told you so." (I rather enjoy doing that).

16. you know you are entitled to your opinion
but in this country people have a right to vote for whoever they want to vote for. If someone votes for someone who is totally opposite of what Bush is it is an anti-Bush vote. I'm tired of the guilt trips people like to put on people who vote third party. If Kerry loses it is because he (John Kerry) didn't convince enough Americans that he was a viable alternative to George W. Bush or if he loses and it is close enough it could very well be because Bush will steal it again. Now you can show all the pictures of the atrocities of the Iraqi war and say, well if Bush wins we will have more of this, it is worth remembering that through his vote in the US Senate John Kerry also contributed to what has happened in Iraq. I know people will try to explain away that simple fact with, "well he was really just voting for the UN to get in or voting for weapons inspections, ect" but he did vote for the Iraqi resolution which authorized Bush's war. This war is as immoral and wrong as any in our history and many people oppose it and will oppose anyone who supported it. For some people it is the primary issue in this election.

p.s.
I'm voting for Kerry but I don't blame people who decide to vote for a progressive third party candidate.
