Poll question: Should Kerry ask Bush to agree to drop the AWOL/Medals sniping?
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 04:56 PM by El Supremo
After listening to Limbarf have an orgasm playing Kerry tapes contradicting himself in 1972 and 2003, I got convinced that this crap from 30+ years ago is getting in the way of the real issues of today.

So what do you think about both sides of them dropping the whole thing? No more requests for Guard or war records, etc.

2. Noooooooooo.....

First, this is going to backfire on the Repugs.

Second, asking for a cease-fire in a political campaign is always interpreted as a sign of weakness. The next issue would immediately become that Kerry had something to hide.

Kerry has nothing to hide in this. Bush does. Let them yap their butts off. (Since that's what they talk out of...)

7. Well...
From what I heard from several sources today is that even though Kerry wanted to make an anti-war statement back then, he lied about thowing his own medals (not ribbons) over the fence.

My main concern is that this "he said, she said" BS from 30 years ago is getting in the way of a proper discussion of things like "preemptive just war", or the mistakes that were and are continuing to be made.

6. This is going to backfire on Bush
The Moveon ad is a start but this issue is going to be a winner for the Democrats in the long run. Bush can not answer where he was in Alabama and more importantly why he refused the flight physical. The issue on the medals is nothing significant.

I would not drop these issues at all.

10. and you think the bush campaign would do something honorable?
give me a break.... Perhaps there are some that "dream" of headlines screaming that "KERRY campaign begs Bush-Cheney for relief from attacks." Perhaps you should stop listening to Limbaugh for a bit. I think it may be impairing your judgement....

11. Whether he talks to Bush or not, I think it is time for Kerry to drop it.
It was on ABC this morning and I think NPR (Gasp!) had something. Here is the Yahoo link:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040426/ap_on_el_pr/kerry_medals_12

If people want to compare what each did during the Vietnam War, Kerry has it won by a landslide. Therefore he should just leave it alone. Personally, I think Kerry would look better if he had never killed anyone and had been thrown in Leavenworth for draft evasion.

Again - I don't give a rat's ass what each of them did 30 years ago. I care about why the Idiot got us into Iraq and how Kerry is going to get us out.

BTW, some of you guys here are about as stupid and stubborn as the people on the other side.
