I'm starting to feel kinda bad for the good Obama
supporters.

All of your hopes and dreams....

I know what it's like to feel bad -- I really like Kucinich (but he dropped out.

I voted for John Edwards in the California Primary, even though he'd dropped out a few days earlier or something.

Yea, Obama sure did draw large crowds at arenas.

So now, it must be devastating to realize how embracing crazy ass religious people can send all of your hard work into the sewer in the blink of a fundie eye.

Wow.

10. Yea, but I'm talking about the General Election ossman
I've read nothing but post after post about how Obama would run away with things in Novemeber.

Even before the devastating video was released, I cautioned Obama supporters and said the Republicans would be cheating, so the election would be close.

I was told McCain would be getting crushed.

But now.

If there was ever a time for you folks to kiss up to the Hillary supporters and beg for their support in November it's now.

Because you know you need them more than ever now, right?

What a shocking situation this has become.

21. No not my ass. I'm an Edwards supporter.....I'm talking
about the Hillary supporters that some of you have actually encouraged to just leave the Democratic Party.

They say they won't be voting for Obama, so you need to plead with them to vote for Obama.

I'm so scared that he will lose in Novemeber because he can't stop from embracing religious nuts. :(

The latest tracker has Obama's support waning and McCain beating him in a general matchup. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-03-16-obama_N.htm

Pollster Scott Rasmussen's tracking polls of the presidential race, published on his website Rasmussenreports.com, showed McCain had moved from a tie with Obama nationally, 44%-44%, on Thursday, to a 47%-43% lead on Sunday.

Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 12:00 PM by CakeGrrl
They'll either vote in their own best interest or cut off their own noses to spite their faces. And if someone can't already see that, then there's not much to be done for or about them...other than to bring more sensible-thinking people into the voting process to offset that void.

It's a good thing that evil-by-association Obama is running a kick-ass grasroots campaign and boosting voter registration. Wow, how he must hate this country. :eyes:

going to bring into the voting process?

Are you going to run to Kinko's or something and make copies of people?

You have what you have.

Therefore, you need to begin kissing up.

Hurry. Before it's too late.

71. That would be people who aren't susceptible to hatemongering and fearmongering tactics

And as this board proves out, some are and some are not.

Even John McCain had the good sense to distinguish between the two. He didn't need to resort to that sneaky-ass "as far as I know" trick to lay any seeds of doubt.

The bottom line is that those who want to or need to believe the guilt-by-association smear tactics to justify a vote against Obama will continue down that path. And if that's their decision and it's enough to swing an election, than we as a nation reap what we sow for not being able to think or react beyond the manipulation.

77. Don't mistake me for a quitter, but I AM a realist
If someone is going to vote for McCain over Obama to teach the Dems a lesson in nominating a "non-experienced" candidate (and yes, I read someone say that was what they were going to do if Obama gets the nomination);

If someone has it tattooed in their brain that Obama must hate America because he's associated with Wright, and that whatever they perceive as Wright's hate (which I believe is wrongheaded from the go) is ALSO Obamas?

...then the hell with them. Those are some minds closed like a steel trap and they aren't going to change because I get 'on my hands and knees' to appeal to them. Bump that.

Either your mind is open to the options or it's not. The trick is to engage more of the open minds.

78. The people who would vote for McCain over Obama
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 12:47 PM by cboy4
need to have their heads examined if they're trying to teach him a lesson.

I've not once ever said I understood why someone would do that, nor have I ever once said I approve of anyone doing that.

I also don't think Obama hates America, nor am I reading other people say they think Obama hates America because of Wright.

You need to calm down and listen to what people are truly saying.

Which is that this is how pandering comes back to haunt people.

You're embellishing (maybe even subconsciously) because you're frustrated at what's going on.

I don't blame you for being frustrated.

on edit....typo

Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 01:22 PM by CakeGrrl
Where do you get the idea that I'm not calm?

I'm not accusing YOU of thinking Obama hates America; I'm referring to others who have decided that he must by association. I speak in hypotheticals a lot.

I'm recounting what I've seen posted on these boards. Do you think I misunderstood what I read? That I didn't really "listen" to what the person who intends to vote for McCain was trying to tell me deep down inside?

I disagree. They couldn't have made it plainer what they were doing and why. Maybe you and I haven't been reading the same threads, which is not a stetch because they're practically viral.

And when I see those trains of thought expressed, I know that there is no practical way of making an appeal to someone locked in that mindset, just as I know that there most definitely exists a group of people who will not vote for Obama under any circumstances, whatever their reasons may be.

I'm also not sure what you mean by "pandering". You think I'm trying to curry favor with fellow Obama supporters? I doubt it, since I'm probably not recognized because of my low post count. I'm here adding my $.02 like everyone else. And if my opinions coincide with others, there we are.

I think a bigger problem on chat boards is flat-out misinterpretation and misunderstanding and non-acknowledgement of what's being written. So many people extract what they choose to see in a statement regardless of the context.

No candidate can or will ever win everyone over. You (the hypothetical "you", not you personally) see where the battle is lost and move on to people who haven't closed their minds to the options.

Anyone who needs to be begged to do what is best for the country in the GE is beneath contempt.

I will be supporting our Dem nominee, whether it is Clinton or Obama.

Those who don't feel the same and "need to be begged" are such self-serving emotional maggots that they should be left behind.

Either Clinton or Obama could move this country forward.

39. i've switched so many times this season: 4 candidates in mere months
i would have no trouble switching to Hillary if she was the better candidate right now but i'm not feeling that.

what happens will happen. i'll vote for the dem and i will be nice to Hillary supporters, absolutely.

we need every democrat's vote in November, no matter who our standard bearer is.

out the closet to tell us Democrats we should roll over and die.

I don't know about all of you, but that gets me fired up. Cowardice never got anybody anything more than a kick in the ass.

63. I appreciate the sympathy, but it's premature
We're not giving up yet...this Obama supporter is sticking by him and is even more motivated after this attack.

But as a Deaniac in 2004, I do know how it feels to see a candidate you've supported for so long drop out...I just hope and pray that I won't have to go through it again this year.

you and most other Americans would never vote for a gay candidate, which is why no LGBT people bother running.

We're responsible for creating wedge issues and costing Democrats the election. Remember?

Unfortunately, you've been afflicted with terrible myopia. The affliction that leads you to believe that this ends Obama's chances is the same short-sightedness that makes you think it best to submit to the racism behind the spin rather than fight it and stand up to it at this time.
