Quick - Give me some examples of Wright's profound influence on Obama.
There must be a ton of them for all the airtime it's getting.

Let's see, I know about the "Audacity of Hope" line that Obama turned into a hateful, vile attack on rich white people and advocated a bloody revolution.

What else?

2. You mean his (self described) "spiritual adviser of twenty years",
or that Obama credits the "good " Rev. for bringing him to Christianity.??

proves that he had more than just a passing interest in Wright...

9. The Title of Obama's book?
Directly lifted from the Pastor.

There are more, I'm sure.

(Even those this contrived Pastor crap has got to go.)

18. audacity of hope. the sermon.
please read the sermon that inspired the title of obama's book. can be read at www.preachingtoday.com/sermons/audacity of hope. it is painful to see so much half truths posited as truth. we are better than this. remember, there disrupters on this site, itching to continue the acrimony. peace

11. Those of you who say Wright named The Audacity of Hope, I have a question:
Have you actually read the book?

It's quite a good read there, and shows Obama's personality and opinions.

Can you name one passage? Just one, that has hatred or bile in it?

*chirping crickets*

I didn't think so.

14. Questions
The questions have to be asked first. We don't know the details until Obama tells us.

My biggest question is does Obama share this worldview that rich whiteys run the world, and that America is racist, and we created HIV to keep blacks down. Does Obama wish that God would damn America?

15. Obama wasn't born yesterday.
He's been a public figure for many years. There must be a lot of stuff out there since he's been going to that church for 20 years.

16. Exactly
It is very hard to believe that Obama has known this man for 20 years, and this is the very first Obama has ever heard the pastor use such language. Unless Wright has gone of the deep end recently, of course Obama knew of this man's views. I think such views are much more common in the black community, but it will play very differently in front of white audiences. I knew a very smart black guy in law school who believed that the US government intentionally spread HIV in the black community, and also invented crack to keep blacks down. And he cheered when OJ was found not guilty. There is a cultural difference in assumptions and beliefs.

17. The point is
if Obama has in any way been deeply influenced by Wright it would have surfaced in his PUBLIC (i.e. not at church) statements and/or actions at some time in the past 20 years--not just during this nasty election campaign. The city of Chicago and state of Illinois would have taken note of him being a "disciple" of so-and-so and probably thrown him overboard long ago. It would have surely made its way into the Chicago newspapers.

I don't think there is any doubt that the Hillary campaign and/or The Establishment including the Mainstream East Coast Media are behind this obvious smear job.

21. Of course he doesn't
If you read Obama's books and listen to his speeches, it is clear how much he loves this country. He loves this country in a way that most of us never could, because his father was an immigrant who was able to escape poverty due to the generousity of the American government. That's what he talked about when I saw him speak (when he received the Kennedy endorsement at AU), and that's what everything else he has said and done conveys. He has no reason to hate this country...he is an American success story and has demonstrated nothing but pride and gratitude toward the United States.

22. OK But
Why then associate with someone who has such vile beliefs? Why keep donating to his church? Why keep belonging to that church? Why have him baptize your kids?

I don't see all these vile things in Obama, which makes me wonder even more why he would associate with this guy.

24. That is mostly Wright saying things.
Not Obama saying things. And how in the world would the Chicago Tribune know that "the senator does check with his pastor before making any bold political moves." I call bullshit on that.

In other words, those are not concrete examples. You'll have to try harder.

You can call BS on it if you want, Obama never called BS on it tho.

So does Obama speak for himself or do you speak for him?
