Rasmussen polls showing fallout from Rev Wright's remarks
http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

The dialogue about Wright’s controversial comments appears to have had at least a short-term impact on public perceptions of Barack Obama. The Illinois Senator is viewed favorably today by just 47% of voters nationwide. That’s down five points since last Thursday (see recent daily results). The number with an unfavorable view of Obama has risen from 44% on Thursday to 50% today. Among White voters, Obama is now viewed favorably by 43% and unfavorably by 54%.

Looked at from a slightly longer perspective, Obama’s overall favorable ratings peaked at 56% on February 21, shortly after he won the Wisconsin Primary. At that point, Clinton began raising questions about Obama as part of the campaign that ultimately enabled her to win the Texas and Ohio Primaries. Since then, Obama’s net favorability ratings have fallen seventeen points (from plus 14 points on February 21 to minus 3 points today).

30. He'll still have more potential than Hillary (even with the questions)
Her max is around 51%; he could win big (65%) or lose big, but at least there's
a CHANCE he could break the 51% gridlock. If she's the nominee, at best we'll
continue to be a divided nation for 4 years.

34. I sort of agree - her top is 53% IMO - but Congress win is not tied to nominee - so his 56% top does

3. As I have said many times, we are going to have to give this time to see how it works out
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 04:18 PM by Drachasor
No one can say anything with any reasonable amount of certainty, imho.

Personally I am hoping it blows over, because it's a ridiculous 'story.'

Though, I now think a single week might not be enough time. It might take two before a clear answer emerges. That said, this is a good time for this to hit the press, since there is a lot of time before PA.

13. But it is okay to call Hillary a racist because Ferraro held a fundraiser for her?
That, too, is guilt by association.

15. Did I call Hillary a racist? Did Obama? No. Did Hillary send Ferraro
out to make those comments, to make race and racial/gender division the focus during the PA primary? You betcha. Do I think Ferraro herself is racist? Absolutely.

Because it sounds like bs to me.

But if it's just more non-specific issue skimming wrapped in flowery rhetoric he will have missed his chance.

18. OK, first this is a dup, already covered extensively. Second, this amount of
fluctuation in a poll is meaningless statistically speaking.

HRC supporters: continue your straw grasping if it makes you feel better.

Also, they say:

Obama 70.5% chance to win the Democratic nomination while expectations for a Clinton victory are at 30.0%.

28. Not to worry
The primaries are in a holding pattern as is anyway, and Barack does better when people actually meet him and see who he really is, by April 22nd everyone in PA would've gotten that chance and this Wright thing will be as far away as Whitewater.

2 or 3 days to two weeks maxiumum of a negative trend, then he'll bounce right back.

Silly attacks never last long. This "release" was premature to affect anything.
