I'm an Edwards supporter who has been sitting on the proverbial
fence leaning toward Hillary. I've waited over a quarter of a century for a politician to actually move me.

His speech was pure, powerful and above all TRUE.

Barack Obama should be POTUS.

9. McCain won't even know where he is
much less who he's debating. Either one of our candidates would crush him in a debate.

3. Grey Ghost. Welcome.
We're not cultists. We really believe he is the best man for the job.

Glad to see another has come to see what I saw a while ago.

I was Edwards first as well. But turned early when I saw he wasn't really in the race.

10. Former Edwards supporter here, too.
I went to Obama after JRE dropped out because I absolutely detest Hillary Clinton. Much of my support for Obama was based on very strong anti-Hillary feelings...until to day.

After the speech today, I totally agree: Barack Obama should be POTUS! :applause:

...except I don't personally detest Clinton. Just distrust.

However I do know a Republican leaning Independent who's hatred for her is pretty deep. Who will vote for Obama over McCain. And I know he's not just bullshitting me. It doesn't surprise me that after McCain got the nom the fake crossovers came flooding in -- some following the Rush bus to screw with us, some who just want to hedge their bets by getting the less offensive (to them) D as an insurance policy in case McCain loses. But sometimes it takes a trip to the real world to realize that not all R voters are hardliners and loyalists, and of those I know, those are much more likely to vote across party lines for Obama.

It wasn't until I already made my decision that I finally came across the info on Obama's non-relation with the DLC. That was a great relief to me, and now I can more truly support Obama rather than hold my nose for party strategy, as it turns out the "shoving down our throats" was just the media looking for a great angle, not backroom reality scripting by the powered elite.

20. I dunno...are you willing to
1. use the term "Clintonistas" in a derogatory fashion?

2. post threads to gloat over every supporter, delegate and super-delegate, Senator Obama gets?

3. jump into pro Senator Clinton threads and spread poo about her, her husband, her daughter or her campaign manager's pets?

4. threaten to vote for Nader, mCcain, or Billy the Talking Bass should Senator Clinton get the nomination?

5. post condescending threads which have an obvious divisive messege...one designed to anger the supporters of Senator Clinton to the point that THEY would vote for Billy the Talking Bass just to get even?

6. call her Billary?

7. keep us updated with the latest from Art Bell regarding who Senator Clinton or her husband chooses to chum around with in their spare time?

8. kick the threads of those who support Senator Clinton but do so so poorly that it harms her position??? (Would you throw in a few snide remarks about the poor OP's family background for good measures???)

9. dig up spectacular yet time worn stuff about Senator Clinton's history, then cite the drudge report or an early rush limbaugh show as your source???

10. ask a Senator Clinton supporter how much Sean Hannity is paying these days to post those opinions??

If you answered yes to any of the above...well we need to talk.
If not, then I welcome you to the Obama camp...oh and I loved his speech too, For me it fell somewhere between the Rev. King's "Dream" speech and President Kennedy's "Ask Not.." speech.

As I said to my wife, the speech ranked up there with JFK & MLK.
It should make every Democrats decision a lot easier.

25. Better re-read the post above yours Greyghost
As a former Edwards supporter who NEVER sold out to another campaign, especially one that is a CULT, I wish you luck. You couldn't choose a candidate further in spirit from Edwards, than a moderate right-wing Democrat.

I couldn't prove CULT status any better than the Truth above yours. In a cult, all communication is harnessed and focused. If you stray fromn the herd you are chastised. Better be a good lemming now Greyghost. Chknltl has set out the proof positive of isolationist cult behaviors. Welcome to INDOCTRINATION, Obama style! Enjoy the kool-aid, but watch out for the inevitable hangover when reason returns.

29. Well now, if John could have gotten any traction I'd still be with him.
Unfortunately he decided enough was enough.

So he left us with the same old, same old, of Hillary or McBush.

I was hoping for something better, and after today I found it.

Good luck to you.

32. Actually, Cleric, YOU need to re-read Chknitl's post - says just the opposite of what you imply.
The short version, paraphrased:

You are welcome to join the Obama camp, BUT...
If you are willing to do any of this list of bad things, "we need to talk" -- IF NOT, then WELCOME.

If you answered yes to any of the above...well we need to talk.
If not, then I welcome you to the Obama camp...oh and I loved his speech too, For me it fell somewhere between the Rev. King's "Dream" speech and President Kennedy's "Ask Not.." speech.

(I know that skimming posts can make one miss the true intent, but "We need to talk" implies a discussion promoting better behavior in this framing. I agree with this - we should support mutual respect wherever achievable. Like not promoting the CULT slur, you know?)

31. It was an amazing speech
a politician who doesn't treat the people like idiots. A politician who speaks truth when his interests would be better served by spinning.
This man should be president . He should be president now, before the washington insiders are able to band together to destroy him.

I was for Kucinich, then Edwards and then sat on the fence after Edwards dropped out but Obama speech convinced me too. I jumped aboard last night.

(NOTE: I still don't think HRC would be a disaster as president, I still think she'd make a decent enough POTUS but Obama has the potential to be a great one).
