Is Kerry going to be the next Hubert H. Humphrey?
Don't get me wrong, I like him, supported him,and will vote for him. But, I am beginning to worry. I remember HHH, and how he could have won by opposing the war as I suspect he velt. He could not bring himself to denounce it. Many voted Mc carthy. split the vote , nixon won. Would JK be better served by listening to the anti war crowd?

4. McCarthy did not run in the general election, Wallace did.
He split the vote. Another three days, and Humphrey would have won. He had the momentum; Muskie did a half hour, last minute fireside chat that was very effective; Nixon's last-minute ads were cold and scary. Humphrey would not have been a great president, but damned better than Nixon. Yes, Kerry should stop being so wishy washy, and condemn Bush for this misadventure. It's a tough quagmire to get out of now, and one we should never be in. Do the American people want more Iraqs? Then re-elect Bush. A simple message, but a true and effective one.

6. I think Kerry has hit very hard at Bush
Now he needs to pick Mr. Likeable as his vp and name other Dem candidates to his team.

Kerry needs lots of Dems saying good things about him.

5. Hell yeah! The country is divided...,
He needs to figure out whose side he's on. At this point, I think there are more people who want to get out of Iraq than those who want to stay. That number is likely to increase as the situation in Iraq continues to deteriorate.

What about Kerry's plan to tighten the embargo on Cuba? What does he gain by that stupidity? None of the Florida wing-nut Cubans are going to vote for Kerry anyway.

He needs to take a hard left turn, IMO!

8. that wasn't how it went in '68 ...
I volunteered BUNCHES in HHH's campaign and the problem was not HHH's stand on the war so much as combination of the let-down McCarthy's supporters felt when HHH took the nomination and the uber-bad-taste left by the Chicago convention.
