Elizabeth Hasselbeck is shouting on the "view" --talking about Obama's speech...
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 10:18 AM by Blue_Roses
about Obama throwing his grandmother under the bus. :eyes: she listens to sound bytes and gives her "view"...she interrupts all the time. I want to slap her. Everyone else is shouting over her. Sherri Shepard just said, "I listen to you all the time, I'm talking now..." :wow: go Sherri

Sherri said she is proud of Obama's speech since she has a young son. She likes the fact that Obama is speaking for healing the future and joining together to get rid of racism. Joy Behar said it was nice to hear someone speak to us like a grown-up. She said Bush would have been talking about Nascar.

Geeze...I just noticed I posted this in GD--P...meant to go to GD:eyes:

7. Where the fuck do you get that from?
Have you ever listened to that blowhard right-wing nutjob on The View? She constantly tries to interrupt and shout in order to get her point across.

Has nothing to do with it being a "female thing". It's a common right-wing tactic. Listen to any right-wing talk show, they do it all the time.

is a nutjob and not worth defending. She is one of those women that enjoys all the benefits she has thanks to femenists and civil rights leaders, yet is always railing against them. Especially against other women. She is a right wing shill.

Because they disagreed with Lizzy.

Any female who disagrees with a female bashing Obama is a sexist.

Isn't it obvious?

watched the View. From what I know about it, it is probably suppose to be geared toward me (40s white woman), but just have never seen it. I don't like watching people scream at each other. What passes for dialogue these days is appalling. I see it on here too. People think that tearing something down, destroying it, is engaging in meaningful discussion. I support Obama, but I don't spew negative things about Clinton. I think Clinton is far more susceptible to the kinds of attacks Obama is going through now, because there is footage of her (not some third party) that is unflattering. I haven't really seen any horrible images of Obama. And, by the way, Obama didn't throw his grandmother under the bus. He told the story of his own life. I can uinderstand why someone in his position would understand the need for unity.

15. The "Obama Threw His Grandmother Under The Bus" Meme...
... was an almost instantaneous Wingnut Talking Point following Obama's speech. It must have been sent out on damned blast-fax.

Watch the nutters wail and thrash, my friends. They have absolutely no idea how to come at Obama, because he took all their nasty game pieces and threw them up in the air.

Does anyone believe for one minute that Hasselbeck actually saw the speech, in its entirety? You'd have to be a complete GOP sycophant to run that "grandmother" line as your only defense of that amazing speech.

They are sad, sad, bitter people, who "will only grow louder and more dissonant."

16. My letter to the View
It's only 8:20 here so I haven't seen it yet but I just sent this note to The View anyway:

IF you want to represent all points of view, you are accomplishing one thing: you've got the right wing idiot well represented. I'm sick of Elizabeth's attitude. It's so blatantly fed to her....does she have Rush Limbaugh in her ear or something? There are INTELLIGENT women who think for themselves who also happen to be Republicans out there. Vacuous blondes attract MEN not intelligent women. Get rid of her.

She was doing this shit yesterday too. I'm sorry Whoopie is sick this week because Elizabeth appears to be getting on her last nerve. Would love to see her and Joy put the little blonde bitch DOWN.

22. Agreed 100%!!!!
Funny how this meme was Joe Scarborough's main point this morning. And if he deigned to speak for the voters of "Youngstown, Ohio" one more time, I swear I was gonna drive to New York and just sock him myself.

One way to turn all of this on its head is to remind voters of the most obvious truth in all of this: "The Georgetown Cocktail Weenie Elite Media Country Club Set Thinks You Are All Fucking Stupid."

30. They aren't in stasis with a large theme of his speech IMO
One of the biggest themes of that speech was the argument that one can love someone (his grandmother or wright) while condemning the comments that theymade. It's almost like she didn't even listen to the whole sound byte, even less the whole message. It's as if she listened to the part describing some racial attitudes from his grandmother that he disliked and then the neurotransmitters conducting rational thought in her mind shut down once he started speaking about how much he loved her despite this. I don't know if it's cognitive dissonance or what but it really comes across to me as either ignorant or deceptive or maybe something else.

35. Newsmax has been railing about...
Obama's "white" grandmother for a year now.

Anti-Semite Andy Martin in NewsMax: "Free Obama's White Grandmother"

In a March 28 column for NewsMax.com titled "Free Obama's White Grandmother," "Internet journalist" Andy Martin wrote that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), whom he called "one of the most racist politicians in America today," has "locked the grandmother who actually raised him away in a closet," adding: "The 'segregation' of Madelyn Dunham, Obama's white grandmother, and only real grandmother, has to be one of the cruelest and most mendacious political kidnappings this nation has ever seen." Martin wrote that Dunham "is the 'Prisoner of Obama,' and of Obama's racist myth that he is 'Black' and not 'Black and White.' "

Martin offered no evidence for any of his allegations, other than quoting from a March 27 Chicago Tribune article, which reported that "the Obama campaign declined to make Madelyn Dunham, 84, available" for an interview and referring to a New York Times article in which, according to Martin, "Dunham told the New York Times she was not well enough to speak." That Times article, published on March 17, reported that "Obama still visits his maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who lives in the same high-rise apartment where Mr. Obama spent much of his childhood. 'I'm not well,' she said on the telephone, explaining her refusal to meet for an interview."

Apparently based on these two reports, Martin arrived at the conclusion that Obama, whom he called a "media witch doctor," has "locked his granny away and refused to allow her to be seen" in order to "pretend he has no white relatives." Martin concluded that "locking Madelyn away is going to hurt Obama more with African-Americans than with whites," because "hites delight in drinking Obama's Kool-Aid." He went on to explain that "blacks," however, "are a lot smarter than whites when it comes to slights, because they have experienced racial slights all their lives," and because "uring the decade when crack devastated the African-American community it was the 'Black Grannies' who were and are the backbone of the community."http://mediamatters.org/items/200703290011
